Port of Palm Beach welcomes Sevenstar Yacht Transport

The luxury of worldwide yacht transportation has chosen the Port of Palm Beach as its new destination for the U.S. southeast region. Sevenstar Yacht Transport, a division of Spliethoff headquartered in Holland, anticipates 30 vessel calls a year

Sevenstar is the world's leading provider of yacht transportation services on a lift-on-lift-off basis through the development of new loading methods and adaptable shipping cradles. The company annually arranges the transport of over 1,000 yachts from various ports world wide to and from U.S. ports and elsewhere that yachting connoisseurs like to visit.

Port of Palm Beach tenant Port Contractors will serve as stevedore for the company. The agent, Global Yacht Transport Agencies located in Palm Beach Gardens, will provide local representation.

“We continue to serve and support all U.S. based clientele of Sevenstar” said Uta Scarlata, manager of Global Yacht Transport Agencies. “This includes providing freight rates, arranging for skipper services and helping to find marina accommodations. The agency guides the yacht owner through all legal documentation involved and keeps him closely informed about the status of his precious shipment, from the time the yacht is booked until she reaches her final destination.”

Sevenstar’s head office is in Amsterdam, the hub of the European yachting industry. From there, the company runs a global network of agencies with direct representations in the U.K., Finland, Monaco, Palma de Mallorca, Canada, Mexico, Florida, and with New Zealand and Australia coming up soon.

“Yacht transportation is a highly regarded, specialized service,” said Dr. Jean L. Enright, chairwoman of the Port of Palm Beach Board of Commissioners. “The Port of Palm Beach is proud to assist in ensuring the cruising community that this service will run with ease.”

The Port of Palm Beach annually handles some 3.2 million tons of cargo and 257 thousand containers, ranking as the fourth busiest among Florida’s container ports and among the top 25 in the nation. The Port of Palm Beach District is an independent special taxing district, a subdivision of the state of Florida, which covers 971 square miles or about half of Palm Beach County.
