Preview: Antibes Yacht Show 2009
For the third consecutive year, the Antibes Yacht Show heralds the opening of the Mediterranean yachting season. Having already doubled its capacity last year, the 2009 event innovates again with new facilities and services, and additional show space with more in-water spots and exhibition stands.

From the 2nd - 5th April the International Yacht Club d’Antibes and Port Vauban will exhibit over 80 yachts and more than 150 companies will exhibit, including well know names from the superyacht industry like Dahm International, Ocean Independence, Curvelle, Merle Wood, CSO Yachts, Maritime International, FIPA Italiana Yachts, Monte Carlo Luxury Yachts, Gaspard Yachts, Unique Yachting Monaco and many others.
Already 23 superyachts over 24 metres have confirmed their attendance and new yachts are being added on a daily basis. The queen and largest yacht of the show will be the 62 metre Amels My Shanti. She is followed by Heesen’s 45m No Escape, the 45m Marco Polo and the 42m Baglietto Annamia

Dahm International will bring the Jongert Red Sula to Antibes. With her beautifully elegant lines, the modern 32.5 meter sloop Red Sula has been inspired by the Audi TT. Tony Castro and automobile designer Giugiaro designed her for fast circumnavigations with a small crew. Originally built for an owner who insisted on putting safety first, this Jongert 3200M is a fast and lively, eminently seaworthy long-distance sailing yacht, equipped with state-of-the-art technology.

One of the largest exhibitors of this year’s show is Ocean Independence who will have no less than 4 yachts on display, IF, Paolyre, Gliss and the FM75 Sossego.
The 35m Benetti Classic IF was launched in 2000 and refitted in 2007/8. This elegant semi-displacement superyacht with state of the art technology has a transatlantic range and is offered for sale and charter.
The 32.7m Ocea Paolyre was built in 2008. Both, solid and stylish this semi-displacement yacht is sleeps 10 guests in 5 cabins. She is offered for both sale and charter.

The 32m sailing yacht Gliss was built by Royal Huisman to a design of Philippe Briand. The luxury performance pilothouse cruiser has been successfully raced thanks to her light Alustar H321 aluminium hull and rig. Gliss’ beautifully designed Pieter Beeldsnijder white washed oak interior accommodates 7 guests in 4 cabins.
In the 24 to 35 metre size range a host of interesting yachts will be on display. Maritime International will show the Falcon Sea Magic, Monte Carlo Luxury Yachts will bring the 28m Baglietto Spago, CSO Yachts will display the 26m Familia and ABYS will show the Moonen 85 Midnight Saga II and the 25m Riva Yanuariya. Other yachts include the Mangusta’s L’Esperance (Gaspard Yachts) and Nobody, the Baglietto Blue Princess Star (Unique Yachting Monaco), the 33m Pas Encore (ABYS Brokerage) and the 30m Azimut Leonardo II.

Show Events
On Thursday April 2nd, around 3pm, M. Leonetti the Mayor of Antibes Juan Les Pins will preside over the Opening Ceremony, it will be followed by the Inauguration Cocktail, on the Terrace of the Bastion St Jaume.

The evening is dedicated to all crew members exhibiting at the show. The Crew Barbecue is becoming a tradition, where the crew members of various yachts have the chance to meet up both with old friends and new. During the evening Dolphin Wear will present a ‘Fashion Show’. Various crew members will be modelling the new collection and compete to be the best man/woman model.
On Friday April 3rd, Antibes Yacht Show is happy to host the Captain’s Dinner. Over 300 captains and VIPs are invited to an exceptional evening, with champagne and great entertainments. During the evening the Juan Les Pins boutiques will present an impressive fashion show exhibiting their new summer collections, organised by the association ETC and the Event organiser Nadia Touchard, in partnership with the tourism office.

On Saturday April 4th, Antibes Yacht Show will host ‘The Crew Show’. This will take place near the VIP Parking. ‘The Crew Show’ gives all crew members the opportunity to meet with representatives of a variety of businesses such as banks, massage therapists, etc. For more information visit www.crewshow.com
Also on Saturday at 3pm, 4pm and again at 5pm ETC (see above) will present another three fashion Shows. The models will parade in front of the VIP lounge and the restaurant tents on the IYCA presenting the new beachwear, sportswear and swimsuit’s collections of the Juan Les Pins boutiques.
Then on Saturday evening the Antibes Yacht Show invites all the exhibitors to enjoy a glass of champagne at the Exhibitor Cocktail on the Terrace of the Bastion St Jaume.

Practical Information
The show is open daily from 10:00 to 19:00 and on Sunday from 10:00 to 17:00. The main entrance is in the Old Port at the Quay Rambaud. Tickets are available at EU 15 per person and children under 15 have free entrance.
