The Dutch superyacht electronics specialists, Admarel, have recently been nominated for a prestigious DAME Design Award for their latest product which premiered at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show: The EntryPod.
The EntryPod is a compact, mobile, all-in-one solution for superyacht access control and visitor communications. Developed by Admarel in response to client requests, the EntryPod security system provides an innovative mix of CCTV, Intercom and access control functionality.
The DAME Design Award is the largest marine competition of its kind and is judged by a professional team of naval architects and designers, alongside user experts. This year, Admarel’s EntryPod has been nominated in the category of Marine Electronics & Marine related software. The winners will be announced during the Tuesday of this year’s METSTRADE held from 15 - 17 November in Amsterdam.
Designed to be mounted on a stand at the point of entry to the yacht, typically the foot of a passerelle, the EntryPod links into the yacht’s security system via a connection port and uses an Ethernet connection to the yacht for its power source. Tailored to your superyacht, in addition to the free-standing option, a range of other mounting alternatives are available, including rail mounting clamps.
A highly secure and user-friendly product, the EntryPod’s built-in CCTV and intercom functionality allow visitors to announce their presence and be managed accordingly by a crew member onboard. Upon entering the yacht, authorised guests and crew members have a choice of verification methods including PIN numbers, card readers and biometrics.
In addition, unlike other entry systems, the EntryPod can be integrated with almost any VOIP (CIP), CCTV and access control system using NO/NC contact, for interface with the ship’s security system. For those looking for high-tech and high-security biometric identification, the EntryPod also comes with the option of 3D face recognition via a two-megapixel colour camera and features a sunlight readable 5.7” intuitive touchscreen user interface.
“This is a product that we have developed in response to customer demand,” explains Dick Breure, Sales Manager at Admarel. “The first units are in the process of being manufactured. It offers a discreet but highly capable solution to the issue of secure access to superyachts from areas open to the public.”
