The 2018 edition of the action-packed HISWA Holland Yachting Group press tour in the Netherlands drew to a close yesterday, with Assistant Editor, Georgia Tindale from the SuperYacht Times team in attendance. Photo: Amels With a packed schedule for the international journalists - from Europe, the US, Australia, Russia and more - the first news announcement took place first thing on Monday 28th May, with HISWA announcing their aim to establish Amsterdam as a major superyacht destination, working in close collaboration with the Port of Amsterdam. With the trip spanning the length and breadth of the Netherlands, from Amsterdam to Vlissingen, from Rotterdam to Vollenhove, the yards visited were Feadship, Amels, Oceanco, Moonen, Heesen Yachts and Royal Huisman.
The visit to Oceanco was particularly eventful, with the Dutch yard revealing their intentions to build the largest ever Dutch superyacht at 125 metres, as well as their new collaboration with the British naval architects, BMT Nigel Gee: the launch of Lateral Naval Architects Ltd.
As well as tours of the shipyards, industry insights and presentations, the Press Tour also included a cruise on the canals of Amsterdam courtesy of Wajer Yachts, dinner at the Harbour club Rotterdam, a virtual tour at the Scheepvaart Museum - the Maritime Museum in Amsterdam - and fiercely competitive hull racing at Heesen Yachts.
