The Rolex Swan Cup 2022 has drawn to a close with deciding races across all the classes settling the final positions. The week-long event ran from 11-18 September and saw intense, but friendly racing from over ninety Nautor Swan yachts in Porto Cervo, Italy.
Photo: Carlo BorlenghiThe Maxi class saw a strong competition with the 27.71-metre Swan 90 yacht Freya overtaking the class leader, Vincente Torres' Swan 80 yacht Plis-Play and edging out Pierluigi Loro Piana's brand new ClubSwan 80 yacht My Song.

Photo: Carlo BorlenghiThe first two races were in lighter winds, and we came 3rd both days,” said Freya's owner Donald Macpherson. “In the stronger wind yesterday we finished first, and today Plis-Play was ahead of us to start with, but the breeze built and we gained on him and ultimately overtook him, so we are very, very happy.”

The league determines points for each nation based on the passport held by the owner. Italy again took second place, with Monaco completing the podium after edging out Austria and Belgium, who finished only a point apart after the season-long competition concluded in Porto Cervo.
