Globally recognised custom superyacht equipment manufacturer Rondal is pleased to announce the appointment of a leading industry figure, Paul Dielemans, as Managing Director. Paul commenced his new role at the beginning of October 2010.
Dielemans, formerly MD of Holland Jachtbouw, has an impressive background of success as both a sailor and a yachting industry businessman. Qualified originally as an engineer, Dielemans’ passion for sailing took him to the Dutch Antilles where he operated as a charter boat captain for three years before setting up his own contracting business there.
During his time in the Caribbean, Dielemans was a highly active racing sailor, competing in many classes of yacht and notably representing the Dutch Antilles in the Laser Class at the Atlanta Olympics. A highly experienced skipper and helmsman, he has also won Antigua Race Week and the Heineken Regatta and continues to be regular participant at superyacht regattas aboard yachts such as Windrose, Shamoun and Whisper.
On his return to Europe, Dielemans took up a position that provided a natural transition from the sport of sailing to the business of superyachts. He was appointed Project Manager for the construction and campaign of the Dutch Whitbread RTWR entry Brunel Sunergy – an experience that provided him with both the expertise and the industry network to develop an industry career that has led, through a number of senior roles, to the leadership of Rondal.
“To be asked to head such a world class company is undoubtedly a high point in my career,” comments Paul Dielemans, “but it is just the beginning of our journey together. I see huge potential for Rondal in empowering every member of the team to own quality and productivity. My approach is to give our people the licence and responsibility to play to their full strengths so that we can realise a wider range of aims in a rapidly evolving marketplace. Custom products, unchallenged for quality and reliability, will always be at the heart of everything we do, but we do need to respond more effectively to customer demands by increasing flexibility and by bringing our innovations to market more rapidly.”
Dielemans acknowledged that rapidly evolving technological changes in the wider world have dramatically heightened customer expectations: “Rondal built a powerful reputation on quality, efficiency and reliability but that is no longer enough – we need to deliver those features in products that are increasingly lightweight, stylish and quiet in operation. We know what we have to achieve for the next stage of our growth, and I relish the challenges that will bring.”
