85m New World Sloop: Royal Huisman to start construction of ‘world’s largest sloop’ in 2023

Royal Huisman has announced that it’ll start the construction of the 85m New World Sloop –  “the world’s largest sloop” – in the new year. The 85-metre superyacht, otherwise known as Project 410, was first unveiled in March during the St. Barths Bucket Regatta 2022.Royal Huisman 85m New World Sloop profile renderingThe 85m New World Sloop is “a true sailor’s yacht: ready to sail in a matter of minutes”, Jann Timmerman, CEO of Royal Huisman Group explained. To facilitate the build, Royal Huisman will need to expand one of its construction sheds in Vollenhove, the Netherlands.

“This renewed hall will, of course, match the high standards of the current facilities to meet the very high expectations for Project 410 and future supersized sailing yachts,” the shipyard confirmed. “With this challenging project the shipyard pushes the boundaries of superyacht building once again.”

The 85m New World Sloop has been commissioned by an experienced owner and will be built to a design and engineering by Mani Frers of Frers Design in Italy. Her interior spaces will be curated by the Amsterdam-based Wetzels Brown Partners. Royal Huisman has pledged to build the project ‘sustainably’ opting for recycled materials or simple low-impact materials wherever possible. The 85m New World Sloop will also be equipped with a hybrid propulsion system and eligible for Lloyd’s ‘Hybrid-Power’ certificate. This unique Project 410 perfectly reflects ‘who we are and what we do’ at Royal Huisman

“A true performance superyacht with supersized dimensions, and full of technical innovations. This project is already iconic in every aspect and will be built by the finest craftsmen in the world in full collaboration with her talented designers. We’re all going to enjoy the realisation of bespoke excellence embraced with ’New World’ technology.”

The 85m New World Sloop will be constructed with an aluminium hull and superstructure. Her carbon mast, boom and integrated sailing system have been designed and produced by Royal Huisman’s sister company, Rondal.
