SuperYachtTimes.com editor Maarten visited Claasen Shipyards in the Netherlands on monday, and discovered the yard is currently very close to completing the modern 72 ft racer/cruiser Bougainville.
The exterior of this impressive sailing yacht was designed by Berret Racoupeau and the interior comes from the boards of Rhoades Young. With an LOA of 22.07 m and a beam of 5.63 m, Bougainville is a special project for the way she incorporates the very latest technologies and most advanced yacht building methods. The keel is fitted with an hydraulic lifting system, giving the yacht a depth of 2.30 m and 3.90 m, respectively.
Bougainville is being built to the MCA code for sailing yachts up to 24 m and will be CE-A certified.
Other projects at the yard are a 90 foot Truly Classic, and a 60 foot Dykstra design. The hull of a 126 foot Truly Classic will soon arrive at the yard to be completed
