Sailing yacht Puritan sold

Earlier this month Edmiston announced the sale of the 36.5m classic sailing yacht Puritan, with the company having represented the buyer and the seller. Mike Horsley from Edmiston tells us that the asking price of the yacht was € 5,000,000 and was sold at just under that amount.

Under her new owner, Puritan will head for a shipyard period in Fiumincino near Rome where the yacht will receive a refit ahead of next year’s summer season in the Med, when she will be put up for charter use.

Puritan was built in 1933 by the Electric Boat Company of New London in the USA. She sleeps 8 guests across 4 cabins with a crew of 8. Under power, she can reach 9.5 knots by using her single Detroit Diesel engine.

Mike comments, “Puritan is one of the most original and carefully restored great sailing yachts of the past. Her shape and her look fulfil and gratify any classic yacht lover’s desire of beauty and harmony and John Alden’s powerful lines are a statement of seaworthiness.”
