For Maite and her team that means helping with any type of request that they may receive. “Sometimes it’s helping someone book accommodation, sometimes it’s finding second-hand golf clubs or taking someone to the doctor. Since then, the marina has grown exponentially, with an emphasis on creating quality experience for guests and employees alike. “There has been a huge change in <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2818" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Port Tarraco (Company)">Port Tarraco</a>’s development when <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6623" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Ocibar (Company)">Ocibar</a> took over marina management,” Maite says. “The company projects both commercially and on the staff structure were a game changer.”The impact has been visible throughout the marina, which is constantly busy, seeing most of the 32 berths occupied, as well as facilities being expanded and improved and the reputation of the marina within the superyacht community has strengthened. “We’ll have captains who are eager to return and make a quick call to reserve a berth. But we also get a lot of superyachts via referrals, like a captain who recommends <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2818" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Port Tarraco (Company)">Port Tarraco</a> to another captain.”&nbsp;Another important element of the marina is her security. With 24-hour surveillance and glass walls surrounding the entire premise, guests can feel safe and secure, as well as controlled dock access. Different personalities, backgrounds and generations bring varying perspectives, but everyone shares the same objective: continuously improving the marina and the service delivered to its clients. “Nani [the Sales Business Manager at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6623" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Ocibar (Company)">Ocibar</a>] is always running, he’s always one step ahead and has such a brilliant mind, this way of working has inspired me a lot,” shares Maite. "The growth of both the industry and the marina is already moving at high speed when caring about the environment," says Maite. "We can clearly see a huge commitment from <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6623" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Ocibar (Company)">Ocibar</a>."“We’ve placed solar panels on all the buildings in the port, helping us with lighting across the facilities and along the docks,” shares Maite. There is total silence onboard.”Another one of the senses <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5252" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Alpha Custom Yachts (Company)">Alpha Custom Yachts</a> is especially considerate of is smell. “You can walk into a beautiful boat but if it’s humid or there are unpleasant odours, it ruins the experience.” The yard has noticed that many of the odour-related issues don’t actually originate from black or grey water tanks themselves, but from low-quality piping systems that begin to sweat over time. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/395761/image/large-f1870b9a00c455b1e44bcca22a5b9127.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/395761">To prevent this, the Squalo 100 has incorporated high quality piping systems alongside a positive-pressure make-up air system designed to continuously renew and purify the air onboard. “Approximately six times per hour, the entire interior air volume is renewed with fresh air.” The result is a refreshing onboard environment.The air-flow design onboard the yacht has also been thoroughly considered: “we maintain more pressure inside the salon than outside, so when the doors open, fresh air escapes outward and blocks hot air from entering” Roberto explains. You cannot just take an iPad interface and put it on a television. The interaction is different, the pace is different and the screen is viewed differently.We focused on making the experience clear, smooth and visually strong. Guests should not feel like they are navigating software. The app should feel effortless: open it, browse, understand where you are, and enjoy the content.The details matter a lot. How the menu moves, how quickly information loads, how readable everything is from across the room. How do you keep the product personal for each vessel? Daniel: Every yacht has its own way of working. The platform should not become extra work. It should make things easier. The first ULTIMA 88 is capable of reaching 26 knots, with additional engine configurations planned for future models.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/394028/image/large-7971dab87ae7b5ead04551be001adcea.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/394028">“The first ULTIMA 88 reaches 26 knots, but soon you will also see new engine configurations that will allow for even higher performance depending on owner preferences,” he added.Balancing speed, efficiency and comfort, however, presented a significant engineering challenge for the shipyard. “The platform is quite different from classic Sunreef catamarans, so it required a fresh approach on multiple levels,” said Lapp.One of the most notable developments was the introduction of stabilisation systems for the first time within the range. “For the first time, we introduced stabilisers,” he explained. “With this new architecture, it became essential to ensure the same level of onboard comfort our clients expect. This width also gives us a more usable surface for solar integration, which directly supports our energy strategy.” In addition to larger onboard spaces, catamarans benefit from shallower drafts and more efficient hull dynamics. “They require less energy to move through the water,” Lapp explained. “The engineering approach is different, but the payoff is significant: more volume and better Lapp. “It’s not about a single technology, but how different systems work together.” Among the most impactful developments are the integration of solar panels, advanced battery systems and energy-efficient air conditioning technologies, all aimed at significantly reducing generator dependency. “This allows yachts to significantly reduce generator use,” he noted.On sailing catamarans, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1158" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Sunreef Yachts (Company)">Sunreef</a> is also incorporating hydroregeneration systems capable of producing electricity from the movement of the propellers under sail. “With the right setup and navigation profile, this combination can bring the yacht very close to zero-emission operation in real conditions,” Lapp explained.&nbsp;Solar integration itself has become a defining element of the shipyard’s design philosophy. “What makes our solution different is that the panels are not just added on – they’re fully integrated into the yacht’s structure,” he said. “The hull sides, superstructure, bimini, even masts in some cases.”By maximising available surface area for conventional onboard power systems. “Instead of relying on generators, we can cover up to 100% of the hotel load directly from solar energy,” Lapp revealed. “When it comes to cruising, with the right navigation profile, like island hopping and smart energy management, it’s possible to navigate using close to zero fuel.”<img with lighter PET-based alternatives, while exploring natural composite materials such as flax fibre. “We’re also introducing materials like flax fiber, which offer similar properties to composites but come from natural, low-impact sources,” he added.Looking ahead, Lapp believes artificial intelligence and automation will play a defining role in the future of large sailing catamarans. “One of the sailing performance more accessible and easier to manage, even on larger yachts.” While details remain limited, he hinted that the shipyard will soon unveil further developments in this area.<img
