The Italian shipyard Sanlorenzo has announced a collaboration with the American design studio, Chris Bangle Associates (CBA). Bangle himself is well known in the circles of car design, and previously worked as Group Design Director of BMW. The collaboration will see Bangle work together with the Sanlorenzo team on the designs of their next generation of yacht exteriors.Since leaving BMW in 2009, Bangle has built a successful design consultancy in Clavesana, Italy, a few hours north of the Sanlorenzo shipyards, and his team have designed a wide range of products and services to a host of prestigious clients.“During 2015 Élite Days here in Rapallo,” says Massimo Perotti, Sanlorenzo Spa Chairman/CEO, “We are not only celebrating my first 10 year in Sanlorenzo, but we are also, together with Chris, opening a new development phase for Sanlorenzo. The first is a semi-open space of 320 square-meters on the main deck, with opening terraces, extendable to 400 square-meters, and with a gym and beach club aft. Produced by UK-based Insensys, the system is based on three rotating carbon fibre masts capable of deploying up to 2,396 square-metres of sail.
