The concept was created by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Nobiskrug (Company)">Nobiskrug</a> in collaboration with Swiss design studio <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2169" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Messerschmitt Yachts GmbH (Company)">Messerschmitt Yachts</a>. Award-winning French yacht designer <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/53" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Philippe Briand Ltd. (Company)">Philippe Briand</a> has unveiled the first renderings of his new 60-metre sailing yacht concept Kaze. Inspired by the Japanese word for wind, Kaze harnesses wind power for her propulsion to create a hybrid sailing yacht.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/261397/image/large-f1bd2456822632f67a925c01142b670f.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/261397">The ketch yacht, Kaze is able to accommodate different sailing programs with three different versions of rigs available, ranging from classic to the highest tech. Tommaso Spadolini (Company)">Tommaso Spadolini</a> has unveiled the first renderings for a new 48.5-metre superyacht concept. The motor yacht was designed with a specific owner in mind who was looking for a more spacious design from his current 35-metre yacht.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/260720/image/large-2e9f6b915b88c880e8684f344ab2c08d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/260720">The strictly displacement hull measures 48.5-metres in overall length, which becomes 46-metres at the waterline. Tommaso Spadolini (Company)">Tommaso Spadolini</a>. “We were expressly asked for a semi-vertical bow and other specific choices such as large free areas in her flybridge. The relationship with the water is therefore mainly experienced through the large aft swim platform and its comfortable and inviting access to the sea.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/260718/image/large-0ff1a58fb8b29d9b60a500d43c0bbc18.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/260718">The owner requested a larger yacht around 50-metres that would allow them to better enjoy their large family during the summer holidays and had some very specific requests for her design. “There had to be large windows, the owner's suite had to be located on the main deck towards the bow, with the four guest and four crew cabins on the lower deck, and the captain's quarters had to be on the upper deck,” explained designer <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/118" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Studio Arch. Construction began on the superyacht in 2020 as a speculation project and the hull was first seen in August 2022. Rebecca, originally from England, brings over two decades of experience in the yachting industry to her new role. Prized as the “most extreme and advanced 80-HT yet” thanks to the client's specifications. The sold <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2612" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Otam (Company)">OTAM</a> yacht has an expected delivery in 2025.&nbsp;The owner, who is not just “an expert owner but also has experience as a captain,” supplied the Genoa-based shipyard with customised specifications, including expansive windows to envelope the boat with natural light and a “detailed list of technical and aesthetic requests.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/263522/image/large-77da9293d81bfb2529b9c143f8a9323d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/263522">The custom-built 80HT comprises a hull and deck, which will be laminated in full Kevlar, while the superstructure is constructed from carbon fibre. The result is an exceptionally strong and rigid structure, which is also lightweight for higher performance in terms of top speed and fuel consumption.
