Amidst the hubbub of the <a href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Monaco Yacht Show - 2021">Monaco Yacht Show</a> at Port Hercules, the Superyacht Eco Association (SEA) gathered for a luncheon to announce the launch of the second phase of the Sea Index in collaboration with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1452" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lloyd's Register (Company)">Lloyd’s Register</a>, represented by Engel de Boer, Yacht Segment &amp; Sales Manager at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1452" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lloyd's Register (Company)">Lloyd’s Register</a>. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/207200/image/large-2295f995347b8bf12b1a8c0aad29341f.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/207200">The SEA also announced an additional membership category - the “Friends of the SEA Index” - which is open to individuals who do not own a SEA Index rated yacht, but who adhere to the values of the Superyacht Eco Association.For those that don’t know, the SEA Index is a collaborative effort between key players in the industry to create a standardised measurement for environmental performance. Truly outstanding performers in regard to sustainability and environmental efforts are awarded 5 stars. Superyachts of this calibre can carry the SEA flag. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/207201/image/large-4b55066914b253277f2e433d9057cf44.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/207201">The SEA Index was first launched last year and has been assessing the carbon intensity of motor yachts over 40-metres since then. This initial phase of the SEA Index provided owners with clear insight into the efficiency of their vessel, based on a 0-5 rating scale. Having set this benchmark the Superyacht Eco Association recognised the need to take the index a step further by including more parameters and extending the scope of the tool to more propulsion systems and alternative fuels.“With a growing awareness of the need to reduce fuel consumption, more and more owners are choosing yachts with hybrid propulsion and optimised auxiliary power systems.” M. Michel Buffat, Head of Aviation &amp; Yacht Finance at Credit Suisse, said. “Supported by the engineers of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1452" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lloyd's Register (Company)">Lloyd’s Register</a>, we have further developed the SEA Index so that it now also rates advanced yacht designs with great accuracy. The 36.8-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2360" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Ocean King (Company)">Ocean King</a> Ducale 120 superyacht is preparing for launch at the Chioggia shipyard in Venice, Italy. Performance-wise, the Ducale 120 is equipped with twin <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1441" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="MAN (Company)">MAN</a> engines that allow her to reach a top speed of 14 knots, with a cruising speed of 12 knots.&nbsp;
