Once again, the annual international trade fair for the exhibition of technology, subcontracting and design for yachts, Seatec, has invited SuperYacht Times to host a seminar for its guests. Seatec 2020SuperYacht Times' director, Merijn de Waard, and head of intelligence, Ralph Dazert, will showcase data from the SuperYacht Times iQ system and share insight into the market during the half-day seminar on Thursday 6 February, starting at 10:00. The seminar will consist of three panels comprising of representatives from leading shipyards, both from Italy and from abroad, to discuss the following topics:

The state of the refit and new-build markets

For the first time, data from SuperYacht Times iQ reflecting the state of the refit and new-build markets during 2019 will be released and compared to previous years. Plus, this data provides an insight into what can be expected from the markets in 2020 and the influential factors. SEATEC Carrara eventTrends in the superyacht refit

The panel will be questioned with: How is the refit market evolving? Are new players entering the market? Are more captains and management companies organising their own refit with subcontractors directly?SuperYacht Times - The State of Yachting 2019Photo: SuperYacht Times

Refit and new-build - a good combination?

The discussion will continue on to explore how, in the last 10 years, a lot of yacht builders have adopted the business model of offering both refit and new build services. Representatives from yards who operate this way will explain and discuss the pros and cons of this approach.SuperYacht Times - The State of Yachting 2019Photo: SuperYacht Times
Investing in shipyards - a good choice?

In recent years, money has been invested into superyacht new build and refit shipyards and in contrast, several yards have been declared bankrupt. The panel will give an insight into whether a shipyard is an attractive investment and what the business case is for doing so.
