Silver Bullet: MCP Yacht’s new 100ft sailing yacht project

Written by Charl van Rooy

The Brazilian shipyard MCP Yachts have launched a new dedicated sailing yachts division under which they will build a range of new fast aluminium sailing yachts. The first project of the series is called Silver Bullet; 100ft performance cruiser developed together with A. Bottino design & engineering. Manoel Chavez, President and Director of MCP Yachts tells SYT that the production facility has been prepared and that the first plates will be cut in January 2016.

The modern styled sloop features a semi-raised saloon, creating a spacious interior upon entering the vessel. Outside, a clean flush deck was designed to keep manoeuvres as simple and carefree as possible. Silver Bullet is designed to be run by a minimal crew, and the self-tacking jib will make this an easy 100 footer to handle. A sliding hard top roof gives shelter to the main cockpit social area, whilst offering excellent views from the helm position placed aft.

Aft of the helm station is a foldable terrace which opens outward and aft as a swim platform would. This area is secured and can either be enjoyed as a sunbathing area out of the wind under its own bimini or as jet ski storage even while underway. The platform submerges and the jet ski is easily loaded on, to provide a hardware-free solution. The yacht’s main tender is stored on the foredeck and once launched by use of the gennaker halyard, is filled with water to be used as a pool.

MCP Yachts will be working on the project for the next two years and delivery is scheduled for early 2017.
