Australian yacht builder SilverYachts today successfully launched its highly-anticipated 85-metre superyacht Bold. Known during her build as Silver Loft, superyacht Bold is the shipyard’s largest project to date and once again partnered with designer Espen Oeino as it has with the successful Silver Series of high speed and efficient motor yachts. The new generation 85m hull platform on which Bold if built has been extensively analysed and tested to be the most efficient hull form produced by the yard in terms of engine power per tonne of displacement. The entire project was developed by a highly-skilled team overseen by Espen Oeino, and includes SSPA from Sweden, in addition to a constant input from SilverYachts’ in house design team.Photo: SilverYachts
Benefits of the yacht’s characteristic straight bow shape include an increased interior volume due to the longer waterline length, as well as decreased resistance resulting in a higher top speed. Powered by twin compact MTU 16V 4000 M73L engines, developing 2880 kW each, Bold is expected to reach a maximum speed of 24 knots, and offer a range of 5,000 nm at 18 knots.Photo: SilverYachts
The vast aft main deck with folding handrails and hydraulic folding bulwarks encompasses an approved helideck with D value of 13, suitable for helicopters such as an AW109.Photo: SilverYachts
With more details to be released by the yard soon, Bold will now set out on its rigorous sea trial phase in the waters outside Perth in Western Australia.
