First time Singapore Yacht Show exhibitor Solaris Yachts, an Italian sailing yacht builder, offers a range of yachts from 37 up to 72 feet. I met up with Jean Pierre Mari, and asked him about his decision to come to Singapore.
“It’s been an interesting show for us. It’s our first time in Asia. We have noticed that visitors, even ones who didn’t know us before, have told us they really like the design and style of our boat here at the show”
“With this type of boats, we have already had great success in Italy and the rest of Europe, and since many Europeans have based themselves here in Singapore, we at Solaris wanted to tap into that market, with a product that we know is appreciated. The main interest in coming from this market, not so much the local market yet. We think that for the Asian clients it might be a bit too soon to start looking into sailing yachts. It’s still a big step from motor yachts, which they are more used to, but that said, the reaction has been positive”.
Looking at the Singapore Yacht Show, Jean Pierre tells SYT “It’s presented in a wonderful way. We are very impressed by the organisation, and the way the show has been divided, with superyachts on one side, and with the production boats on the other side of the show. The marina and whole area is beautiful, we are well impressed!”
