Introducing the Stratos Dutch Built 50 yacht, designed to dominate the toughest sea conditions

Stratos Yachts has unveiled the first 15-metre Stratos Dutch Built 50 yacht tender at the Masters Expo in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.The DB50 yacht made her maiden voyage directly to the Masters Expo in Amsterdam, from the Stratos Shipyard in Lelystad and has been designed to conquer the most challenging conditions. 

Combining strength and style, the DB50 yacht is built to CE Classification A, allowing her to withstand winds over Beaufort Force 8 and significant wave heights above four-metres. She showcases a design by Netherlands-based Bernd Weel, with naval architecture from Sea Level.The first hull from the innovative Dutch shipyard Stratos, boasts a design aimed at unparalleled performance and is the culmination of Bas Lengers vision. With more than 40 years of expertise within the industry, Bas recognised a gap in the market for a vessel in the 50-foot segment. 

“I felt the 50-foot category needed a tough, resiliently-robust vessel, one that is truly seaworthy and built to superyacht standards,” explained Bas Lengers, Owner of Lengers Yachts. “The name Stratos is derived from the stratosphere. This altitude is what we aim to achieve in terms of quality, functionality, and performance.”

The Stratos Dutch Built 50 yacht is designed to set a new benchmark for luxury living in her class. The theme of beauty intertwined with substance permeates the entire DB50, with an abundance of natural light, providing unobstructed ocean views throughout.“The design consists of rigid and strong lines which define the robust and firm character of this vessel” explained Bernd Weel. The hardtop alone took a year of research and development, resulting in an eye-catching carbon structure that contains an automated sunroof. 

“It enables guests onboard to choose to be in the sun or shade. The two panels can slide forward and aft, in order to provide a superb fusion of sun and shade for both lounge and helm station individually,” added Bernd Weel. 

Stratos shipyard's in-house team provided highly-skilled carbon and painting services, with carbon composite materials integrated seamlessly into her exterior design. She features a full-carbon handrail with LED lighting accents, bringing superyacht-level detail to the DB50.The Stratos DB50 yacht provides top-level visibility and uncompromised safety when cutting through the water, even at lightning speeds. “The bow shape is carefully designed to break away spray water and improve seaworthiness. There are long lines flowing from bow to stern, which emphasise visual length; for example the rub rail and long, stretched glass panels in the hull,” said Bernd Weel.

A selection of 25 shades  including metallic and non-metallic options are available, as well as a plethora of upholstery, teak, and interior choices.Owners can choose from three different interior styles, to create the perfect level of ambience onboard. Her Zen style offers a light interior design, whereas Graphite provides a darker tone, and for those looking for a middle choice, a Serene option is also available.The design of the DB50 yacht, with its expansive sunpads, dual movement automated sunroof, and inviting alfresco dining space, lends Stratos towards long summer days cruising the Mediterranean.

 “They are designed with the SUV in mind, showing winches and bollards instead of hiding them away like many other vessels on the market.
