After entering the superyacht market in 2009 with the widely acclaimed 45 metre Africa, and then signing one of the largest new-build contracts of 2010 with a 63 metre project (Oeino/RWD), Sunrise Yachts continues its collaboration with Espen Øino and Franck Darnet with a new 50 metre motor yacht and at the Monaco Yacht Show.
The design of the S50 focuses on an indoor/outdoor concept that offers an abundance of natural light, a design of timeless elegance and an innovative distribution of space. Light is a defining element of the style. The Sunrise 50 metre concept is of a long-range displacement yacht capable of accommodating up to eleven guests in highlevel comfort – while introducing a design philosophy rarely implemented on a vessel of this size.
For a long time, the founders of Sunrise Yachts have believed that the layout of motor yachts has not evolved with the new generation of owners. There is a convention that guests should be relegated inside the hull (where prisoners or slaves were in ancient times) and that some of the prime real estate of the yacht is to be sacrificed to services.
The team of Espen Øino, Franck Darnet Design and Sunrise Yachts have broken the mould and conceived a layout that brings the owner and his guests closer to the sea and to light: very large windows, skylights, opening balconies, a central spiral staircase and separate functions for each deck are some of the most notable interior design features found on the Sunrise 50.
The first Sunrise 50 metre should be launched at the end of 2013. The project will be presented at the Cannes and Monaco yacht shows in September where the company will be exhibiting (Espace Riviera in Cannes; Stand QP26 at MYS).
