Sunrise Yachts – the super yacht yard founded by German entrepreneur Herbert P. Baum and French-British yacht-builder Guillaume Roché – is proud to introduce the first of the signature series the company is developing with renowned yacht designer Espen Oeino and interior designer Franck Darnet. The Sunrise/ Oeino designs will also include a 52m, 57m and 65m.
Consistent with the company’s strategy to have one vessel available for sale for each summer season, construction has started in Antalya on the first Sunrise 47m with delivery scheduled June 2011.
Espen Oeino’s talent has led him to develop increasingly large projects with major mega-yacht shipyards, including yachts as acclaimed as Silver, Octopus, Skat, Kismet, Princess Marianna, and many more. With this partnership, Sunrise Yachts both further demonstrates its credibility as a yacht builder and offers “Espen Oeino designs” in an “average” size range showing great potential: 47m to 65m.
Guillaume Roché, President of Sunrise Yachts, stated: “For the development of our new series, it was important for us to work with people who “think outside of the box”, who are able to draw on their experience as much as being responsive to the demands of today’s yacht owners. Espen Oeino and his very competent team were therefore a natural choice as his inspiring talent and his keen ear to current trends synthetize into incredible ideas. If you add the impressively creative mind of interior designer Franck Darnet, the resulting fusion of creativity and innovation is a stunningly beautiful and original yacht line, which we hope will break some new ground in the art of living on the water. I can’t wait to see this project become reality and people’s response to our vision!”
Espen Oeino added: “For us here at Espen Oeino International it is refreshing to work with such an enthusiastic and dedicated group of people. We are convinced that this dedication and commitment will show in the final product. The experience of the individuals at the yard blended with the willingness to explore new horizons makes it a thrilling experience to design and build a yacht at Sunrise.”
The project team also includes on-site engineering firm Brilliant Boats, led by Michael Schutte who talks about “a very special project supported by a state of the art construction package to streamline production and deal with eventual owner changes quickly and accurately. Having a full engineering office on site to support the build will make a huge difference to the construction process”.
The design itself innovates in the use of space and focuses on bringing owners and guests closer to the sea and to light: huge areas of glass for amazing light and views, skylights, opening balconies, a central architectural spiral staircase and separate functions for each deck are some of the most notable interior design features found on the Sunrise 47, which comes in two main configurations: In configuration one, four spacious guest cabins on the main deck each offer superb ocean views, while the full-beam master suite has three huge floor-to-ceiling bay windows making you feel you are literally standing on the water, bathed in natural light from skylights bedded into the foredeck Portuguese bridge.
In an alternative, more audacious configuration, the owner’s suite occupies almost all of the upper deck, offering space rarely seen on yachts of a similar size and leaving most of the full-beam main deck available for a vast semi-open salon and entertaining area.
The yacht will be promoted in cooperation with marketing partner Camper & Nicholsons (Michael Payne, Monaco office), who has been promoting the two 45m Scanu designed motor-yachts currently under construction at the shipyard (delivery August 2009 and July 2010).
