The 43 metre sailing yacht Asgard (formerly Hetairos) is currently at Holland Jachtbouw for substantial refit works. We spent a huge amount of time exploring the market to find the perfect yacht and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/337" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Arbema72.0m (236'3&quot;)CRN2010">Azteca</a> had the perfect layout for family and friends," explains Charles Carveles. With a very clear vision of what they wanted to achieve, the owners were closely involved with the redesign, working alongside the team at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/547" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="MB92 La Ciotat (Company)">MB92 La Ciotat</a>, Project Managers <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6165" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Hampshire Marine (Company)">Hampshire Marine</a> and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/124" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Edmiston (Company)">Edmiston</a> to manage it themselves. Contemporary and stylish, the yacht's once dark walls have been stripped and transformed, with bespoke leather paneling and white walls and ceiling replacing the dark glossy wood. Vincent Escallier adds, "Our recent project on <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/337" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Arbema72.0m (236'3&quot;)CRN2010">Arbema</a> was notably complex. It encompassed a continually evolving, extensive works list, starting with a full paint job and ending with a significant interior refit. Coordinating the efforts of over 100 companies and numerous specialists. In the weeks leading up to delivery, the daily workforce on board swelled to include between 50 and 70 individuals, 7 days a week, in order to deliver on time."Technical milestonesWhile the yacht's interior refurbishment was one of the most significant changes undergone during the refit, the superyacht has also been modernised in regards to her technical and mechanical elements. Vincent explains, "While the majority of the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/337" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Arbema72.0m (236'3&quot;)CRN2010">Arbema</a> refit relied on dedicated craftsmanship and hard work rather than cutting-edge technology, there were notable instances of innovation incorporated into the process. For instance, laser technology played a pivotal role in precision alignment work on the transom door. For the owner of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/337" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Arbema72.0m (236'3&quot;)CRN2010">Arbema</a>, it was the yard's track record and appetite to tackle larger projects that made it an ideal choice, while <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6165" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Hampshire Marine (Company)">Hampshire Marine</a> supported the owner and the crew in the management of the project.&nbsp;Deam Smith, Project Manager from <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6165" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Hampshire Marine (Company)">Hampshire Marine</a> explains more, "We were approached by Edmiston when the owner of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/337" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Arbema72.0m (236'3&quot;)CRN2010">Arbema</a> was looking to re-style this classic <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/65" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Nuvolari Lenard (Company)">Nuvolari Lenard</a> <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/12" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="CRN (Company)">CRN</a> back in early 2022. After some initial designs and scoping it was agreed to move forward and commence work in Winter 2022 and complete as much as possible to include a full review of every system onboard with replacement where deemed necessary, such as interior/exterior lighting, water makers, HVAC system, Nav/Comms upgrades and all ancillary machinery overhauls. In addition a full new underwater hull paint system and full exterior paint system with a stunning midnight blue hull topsides colour using <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1546" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Alexseal Yacht Coatings (Company)">Alexseal</a>’s Base Coat/Clear Coat system applied by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/340" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Pinmar (Company)">Pinmar</a>. Perhaps the biggest change however was that vested in the interior with a complete modernisation styled by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/200" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Rhoades Young Design (Company)">Rhoades Young</a> of Lymington and executed to great effect by M<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/547" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="MB92 La Ciotat (Company)">B92</a>’s interior team”.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/293587/image/large-d996d75aa8f9bf765bb888fabc1957ab.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/293587">Charles Carveles adds, "In terms of milestones there was a lot of technical work behind the scenes, new tanks, sub flooring, AC, AV, flooring. A lot of attention has been paid to upgrading the ‘behind the scenes’ technical areas to ensure her performance is as good as her styling. The 97.2-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/23" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lürssen Yachts (Company)">Lürssen</a> superyacht <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/865" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Carinthia VII97.2m (318'11&quot;)Lürssen Yachts2002">Carinthia VII</a> showcases a chic, modern interior design following her extensive refit. The superyacht left the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/23" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lürssen Yachts (Company)">Lürssen</a> facilities in Hamburg in early September 2023 and has been redelivered to her owners after being meticulously refitted. The superyacht’s interior transformation was displayed at the recent <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Event/182" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Monaco Yacht Show - 2023">Monaco Yacht Show</a>.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/288404/image/large-52405cbd60fe0db6851a8e7b495e8a8e.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/288404">The superyacht’s interior and exterior design transformation were penned by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/7050" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Bizzozero Cassina Architects (Company)">Bizzozero Cassina Architects</a>, working closely with the owner’s representatives from <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4530" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="RYacht Management (Company)">RYacht Management</a>. “A refit is not just about necessary maintenance, it can also be a way to completely transform a yacht,” stated Refit Sales Director at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/23" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lürssen Yachts (Company)">Lürssen</a> Alberto Perrone, “This is a very complex job which requires the review of regulations and many negotiations with the class to navigate safely through the sea of rules.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/288384/image/large-b8899aa4abd4d3106fe3a7865d1f9129.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/288384">One of the most instantly recognisable transformations is the superyacht’s new 11-metre swimming pool situated on the main deck. Characterised by a glass front, the opulent pool sets the standard for luxury onboard and can be accessed via a newly installed staircase. The pool’s interior and exterior was painted in blue with grey accents, giving the water the reflection of the sea below. While the superyacht’s interior aesthetic has been revitalised, the original interior was in excellent condition and consequently the owner has kept at least one piece of furniture in each room, most notably the unique wooden floor. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4509" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="SuperYacht Times (Company)">SuperYacht Times</a> takes a closer outlook onboard the contemporary interior design transformation.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/288386/image/large-4da0cf782379c89980af75a0c0c52b36.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/288386">Entering the main deck saloon, two new expansive L-shaped sofas are situated on either side of the room, framing the space, neutral tones fuse with blue furnishings to create an inviting ambience onboard. The saloon also boasts a custom designed carpet, complete with blue and navy geometric patterns, unifying the aesthetic of the room, while the walls are adorned in fresh fabrics from an artisan manufacturer in Venice.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/288387/image/large-637516234d63b58cdefb9e4d3620f0d4.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/288387"><img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/288381/image/large-49f8b6e8b4cfd0e14ce4e8258fcc5d25.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/288381">Forward of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/865" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Carinthia VII97.2m (318'11&quot;)Lürssen Yachts2002">Carinthia VII</a>’s main saloon is a staircase decorated in handmade leather tiles, which reflect the parquet flooring, which alters from a deep ocean blue on the lower deck, to a pale sky blue on the bridge deck, mirroring the outside world. In addition, each floor features thoughtfully selected artworks in the lobbies to complement the colour of the staircase.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/288389/image/large-2cfe40f8f4c46be99d88fb6a82f9c746.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/288389">Six guest suites are also located forward on the main deck, two of which showcase double beds, two with single beds, while the bow staterooms can be converted into children’s playrooms. Much of the furniture within the staterooms has been retained during the refit, while new fabrics cover the wall panels and the wood panels have been repainted. The staterooms feature a neutral colour palette, with luxurious cream furnishings, bright overhead lighting and grey detailing defining the rooms. The lounge houses four large rotating chairs, allowing guests to enjoy a film in cinema-style or create a private space to host games nights. The wood panelling has been modified from high-gloss to a satin finish, enhancing the luxury onboard. The upper deck aft also displays a teppanyaki round bar, making this the ideal spot for guests to embrace their ocean-views while feeling utterly relaxed.Most of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/865" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Carinthia VII97.2m (318'11&quot;)Lürssen Yachts2002">Carinthia VII</a>’s upper deck is part of the owner’s area. A large VIP suite is situated to port, boasting blue wall panelling and expansive windows, allowing a plethora of natural light to illuminate the interior. In addition, the original vanity and hairdressing room is situated further forward, this is the only room in which the original mosaic floor has been preserved. The spa also displays a beauty salon, complete with a nail desk and hairdresser station.
