Heywood, Amels and Imperial on the 52m superyacht Grace

Written by Laura Nicholls

Ten years ago, Amels set their fifth Limited Editions 171 free: the 52.3-metre Grace. Since then, the model has become one of the world’s best-selling superyachts under 55 metres. The opportunity has now arisen for an owner to take on the legacy of owning such a yacht: Grace is on the market exclusively with Imperial after having spent her years taking her private owner to discover destinations all around the world. Imperial has continued to manage the yacht throughout her lifespan and has just celebrated the signing and completion of her 10-year survey. Also responsible for Grace’s success is the craftsmanship of exterior designer Tim Heywood, shipyard Amels and interior designer Nuvolari Lenard Studio, who have all played their part in ensuring that Grace is currently one of the highest quality yachts on the market. These features are typical of the Amels 171 model, as Tim Heywood describes: “The larger the boat is, the easier it is to make it elegant. But then, I like the challenge of trying to apply the design formulas I’ve created to smaller boats. The Amels 171 as it was originally, now the 180, that to me features a lot of the details and design elements that I’ve created on the bigger boats.” Grace yacht main saloon Photo: Jeff Brown | Breed MediaGrace yacht dining roomPhoto: Jeff Brown | Breed MediaWith these creative design elements, Heywood gave Grace her large garage for two jet skis and onboard crane, which can be used to place the 6.5-metre tender from the foredeck to the bridge deck aft during any potential Atlantic crossings. Going up onto the panoramic sundeck, guests can make use of the luxury Jacuzzi, relax and be served a refreshment from the nearby bar. Here, guests also have an extra option for al fresco dinners at the dining table. Decorated with exterior sets from Summit and custom made furniture by Metrica, these thoughtful characteristics are what contributes to Grace’s outstanding quality.Grace yacht upper deck saloon Photo: Jeff Brown | Breed MediaGrace yacht home cinemaPhoto: Jeff Brown | Breed MediaInside the 649 GT four-deck layout is a fine example of work from interior designer Nuvolari Lenard Studio, who created the interior atmosphere together with Imperial to accommodate up to 12 guests in six staterooms. “Most of the Limited Editions superyachts have interiors by Laura Sessa, whereas Grace was created by Nuvolari Lenard Studio, so she has a special, unique touch and feel compared to other 171’s,” explains Imperial sales broker Greg Thomas. The original interior was highly customised and personalised by Grace’s owner, fulfilling one of the main ambitions of the Limited Editions concept. The Limited Editions range certainly appeals to those who seek the proven quality and value of the Amels brand and fast delivery time. “One of the great benefits of the Limited Editions concept is the freedom to choose your own interior designer to create your own individual vision of yachting at the highest level,” says Amels.Grace yacht guests's cabinPhoto: Jeff Brown | Breed MediaGrace yacht cabin vanityPhoto: Jeff Brown | Breed MediaThe lives and careers of those at Nuvolari Lenard Studio, namely founders Dan Lenard and Carlo Nuvolari, have always maintained a strong relationship with fashion styles and the sea. This, as well as their Venice base, has clearly influenced Grace, as her interior is consistently fresh and contemporary with a note of classic Italian chic - something which has remained “perfect” according to Thomas. “Her standout feature is definitely her quality. For a ten-year-old boat, she is amazing and no one can find a fault,” he adds. Since coming on to the market in 2019, Grace has a lot of interest. As Thomas mentions: “I am receiving a lot of consistently good feedback. I have no doubt she will sell before the end of 2019.”
