March 10th saw the departure of Highlander from Derecktor Florida. This exciting project began in June 2013 and included lengthening the hull, major mechanicals and full paint while the owners conducted a major interior renovation. Sea trials were conducted without incident and the vessel performs well and as predicted.
The iconic 150' Feadship superyacht The Highlander was built by de Vries in 1986 for Malcolm Forbes, and was long seen as one of the best known symbols of big business. Upon completion of her successful refit, the yard's project manager Jack Schneider said, "This project has been a great collaboration between the owners, their design team and the shipyard. It is very rewarding to see an older vessel of historical significance restored to her former glory".
And restored to her former glory she is. This iconic yacht is predicted to have a bright future in charter on both sides of the Atlantic and is now available for delivery to new owners.
