SuperYacht of the Week: AB Yachts presents the AB 116 superyacht

The AB 116 is the latest model by the AB Yachts shipyard, which is part of the Fipa Group. The model summarises the new AB Yachts style concept of sport poweryachts, with a slender looking hull, smooth, tapering, and winning lines. The interior has been conceived in order to grant the utmost comfort in an environment able to create continuity between the exterior and the interior.

When entering from the main aft deck, the spaciousness of the main saloon immediately grasps your attention. The interior designer opted for natural materials, like wenge and durmast, put together with subtle fabrics and leathers.

The big windows create a sense of openness, and much thought has gone into the creation of the general arrangement, in order to create a unique environment at sea. The main deck is designed in a loft style, and contains a large inviting saloon, that features a wide U-shaped sofa which faces a large 50” TV, hidden in a beautiful cabinet.

Forward of the main lounging area, there is a large dining table for 10 guests. A bar flanks the main stairs to the guest accommodation, and contains a fridge, ice maker and sink.

The pilothouse is discreetly separated from the salon by means of a panel put in the centre of the area. The panel remains at half the height of the room, which allows the crew to have a 360° visibility of the exterior from any point on the main deck.

The owner’s cabin is located aft of the guest accommodation, and contains a large bright suite, a dressing room, and a large ensuite bathroom. Downstairs, there are two additional spacious double guest cabins, and a comfortable twin cabin. An additional single cabin can be used as gym or as a guest or staff cabin.

The aft cockpit, covered with teak, features a large and wide sunbed, which can also be used as a sofa, and covered by the overhang of the superstructure, there is a dining area. Forward of the deckhouse, there is a large lounging area.

What sets the AB 116 apart from other superyachts in her class is her flybridge. Here one finds large sunpads, another al fresco dining area, as well as a steering station for easy maneuvering in port. The flybridge however does not compromise the superyacht’s sleek profile.

Like many other yachts built by the Massa based shipyard, the 116 is built using materials borrowed from the aerospace industry, which ensure light weight, yet high strength and solidity. The 116 is powered by three MTU 16V2000 M93 CR engines, producing 2400 HP each, with 3 MJP waterjets that allow the new AB 116 to reach a maximum speed of 46 knots with the utmost confidence and total absence of vibrations.
