Superyacht of the Week: Alloy's CaryAli

Built by Alloy Yachts in 2013, CaryAli is a elegant yet tough explorer vessel just over 39 metres long. With exteriors and naval architecture by René van der Velden, and classic interiors designed by Lynne Grossman Interiors, Redman Whiteley Dixon and Alloy Yachts, CaryAli was designed for experienced owners that, over the course of an impressive yachting life spanning over 35 years, have a crystal clear idea of what they want. Having taking their vessels, both motor and sailing yachts, to many parts of the world, these owners envisioned CaryAli as a superjacht that would be able to boldly and comfortably cross the Pacific just as easily as she would slipping into any berth or port. In other words, she would have to combine strength with finesse, and this is surely what lies at the core of what makes CaryAli a successful superyacht.

Upon first glance, it becomes apparent that CaryAli is all about exploring, with her hardy and no-nonsense, yet graceful exterior look and a colour palette of deep grey and crisp white, for hull and superstructure respectively. Carrying her owners, and eight lucky guests, to the most distant and challenging destinations safely, comfortably and stylishly. Externally, she certainly reflects the look and feel of those classic oceanographic research and navy vessels, with a variety of features that, particularly specified by the owners, include a deep draft, high bow with foredeck wave breaker and an elegant shear-line from high bow to low transom. With her steel hull and aluminium superstructure, 460 tons displacement and an 8 feet-projecting underwater bulb at the bow-stem, CaryAli surely has the physical features to back up her adventurous, serious looks. The result is a superyacht that is averse to any kind of gimmick or trendy gadget, a pleasant trait that is also integrated throughout her chic, mild and refined classic interiors.

Starting with the colour palette, which reflects a range of shades based on CaryAli's exterior tints, complimented by a range of natural colours from luxurious yet subtle materials such as varnished wood, supple leather and stainless steel, the interior design is one of soothing comfort and powerful elegance. Classic yet contemporary, this design fits any environment, from hot Caribbean climates to snowy Alaska, seemingly adapting to the natural habitat and framing the stunning surroundings, instead of utilising dramatic vistas as backdrop for abundant interior settings. In other words, befitting an explorer vessel such as this, CaryAli emphasises surroundings and has guests truly focus on the many magnificent destinations she is capable of reaching. The connects interior and exterior living, which is, for instance, perfectly illustrated by the full walk around decks on all levels, allowing guests and crew to enjoy the stunning surroundings at any given moment.
