Kokomo’s appeal is simple. She is the finest available sailing yacht of her size. At 52 metres (170’) Kokomo is the ideal length that combines large interior spaces with sleek performance values. Long enough to have a massive 63.4 metre rig able to support a sail volume of 3,832 square metres.
The rig is the largest that can pass through the Panama Canal. A gennaker of 1,660 square metres gives outstanding performance even in light airs. One camera atop the mast and one camera on the lower spreader relay 360º views to five monitors. A cosy, crowsnest lift ascends 30 metres for breathtaking views either underway or at anchor.
With the benefit of experience comes a layout plan for easy living. All of the day areas are on one level and all of the cabins below. The steering position is dedicated to a flybridge large enough for relaxation, entertaining and sailing. While most of the deck space is aft, the forward tender store also doubles as a spa pool.
The aft deck is an expansive, teak terrace with a huge U- shaped sofa and umbrellas. No clutter, no ‘other bits’ just clean, clear space. A double-hinged transom unfolds to create a huge swimming platform that descends below the level of the water. This entire aft section leads through into the saloon via the dining cockpit. It is a seamless connection from teak deck to wenge floorboards. The ten seat dining area is protected by retracting, glass, side panels – up when you want air-conditioned control, down when you want nature’s air-conditioned breeze.
Redman Whiteley Dixon’s interior is a masterful display of taste and restraint. Modern and luxurious, it has clean lines and lets the materials do the talking. Wenge and walnut panelling, mid earth-toned alcantara sofas – refined and elegant style.
Floating steps up to the fl ying bridge are typical of the design-led solutions to everything. Ten guests sleep in a full beam, king size master (with a full-beam steam shower bathroom), two double and two twin staterooms with additional Pullman berths.
Kokomo is an enormously accomplished yacht, and is available for purchase through Edmiston & Company. Her asking price is EURO 34,500,000. Please contact Chris Cecil-Wright in their Monaco office for further information, www.edmistoncompany.com.
