In May 2008, and with great anticipation, Nourah of Riyad left her dry dock and entered the waters of Izmit Bay for the first time, making her the largest superyacht launched in Turkey. Both her plush interiors and crisp exteriors were designed by Donald Starkey. Yachtley engineers and craftsmen were her builders and architects.
Nourah of Riyad has a steel hull with an aluminum superstructure and was built to American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), 100 A1 Commercial Yachting Service AMS, Cayman Islands MCA, and UK MCA Code of Practice for Safety of Large Commercial Sailing and Motor Vessels Standards.
With twin 3516 C 3150 HP Caterpillar diesel engines, this superyacht can achieve a top speed of 19 knots and a sustainable cruising speed of 16 knots. Power is provided by three C9 Caterpillar diesel generators rated at 175kWh each and one backup diesel generator rated at 150 kWh. With more than 57,000 gallons of fuel onboard, she has a range in excess of 6000 nautical miles when cruising at 14 knots.
Other specifics about this superyacht includes a water storage capacity of more than 14,000 gallons and two reverse osmosis watermakers, complete with sand filters, capable to produce a total of 13,000 gallons/day.
The Main Deck of features the main entrance foyer, owner’s suite, custom theatre, and main saloon. The foyer sets the contemporary theme that runs throughout the Nourah of Riyad, for her owner and their guests, with shades of natural colors and materials, marble floors and exotic wood panelled bulkheads that lead to the main saloon and an onboard elevator providing immediate access to the other decks.
From the foyer we pass through foot-activated sliding doors into the main saloon. The main saloon maintains this superyacht’s contemporary themes with a multi-level overhead arranged in a distinct decorative pattern and is fully carpeted. This space has integrated indirect lighting with special care taken to ensure that the lighting could not be seen through reflection. The main saloon also features built-in seating and loose furniture arranged in a majalis style, including a gaming table sized for six. There are also built-in cabinetry housing the audio and video equipment, that includes a large LCD and plasma televisions.
Moving forward on the main deck are two his and her owner suites, with attached walk-in dressing rooms. The suites offer spectacular panoramic views from port or starboard sides, oversized king-sized beds, and electronically controlled adjustable bed frames. Columned headboards are upholstered wih lacquered panels. Each suite features built-in cabinetry that conceals well-equipped entertainment systems. For privacy, electronically-operated screens and curtains have been installed for all the windows.
Attached to the dressing rooms, through sliding doors, are the his and hers luxury baths. The starboard bath includes a steam shower and sculptured marble vanity. The port-side bath features a shower and separate bathtub and a second sculptured marble vanity. Special attention was given to air flow in the Owner’s suites, to ensure that dry air is always moving from the suite into the bathrooms areas, from where air will be continuously extracted, to avoid unwanted drafting.
The owner’s private area also features a dedicated lounge that spans the full width of this superyacht, offering forward-looking panoramic views, comfortable seating, and a well equipped entertainment system.
On the main deck starboard side, separate from the main saloon, is a purpose built private theatre with seating for nine. Included in the theatre are an impressive audio/video system, a raised overhead, small refrigerator, and icemaker.
Moving to the Lower Deck there are six guest suites. Each suite is finished with its own unique interior design. Suites are fitted with either a king-sized bed or two extra wide single beds. Bulkheads have mahogany paneling and veneers, lacquered fabrics, padded leather, and other specialty details. Built-in cabinetry is accentuated with gold-plated or hand-painted fixtures. Windows have electrically controlled shades and curtains. Each suite has programmable indirect lighting made by Savage Marine. Additionally, each suite has its own bath with Hoesch whirlpool baths and made with materials such as Granite, marble and Corian and have gold-plated fixtures made by Serdanelli Princess.
Moving to the Upper and Sun Decks, this superyacht’s main features include a formal dining room for seating for 24 people comfortably. The multi-leveled overhead, over the dining tables, there is a painted scene with fiber optic lighting. An atrium staircase provides access to the Sun Deck.
