SuperYacht of the Week: South

Recently launched from the Italian yard Navi Rossi, South is already set to become one of the most popular charters yachts around. Designed and built for an experienced owner, who previously owned a 39m yacht, she offers every possible amenity, including a top deck gym, an elevator, and a large tender garage. Modern Italian styling, and gracious outdoor lounges, combine in a unique fashion.

A walk-through of the yacht, starting at her lower deck, reveals four very spacious cabins, two doubles, and two twins, set around a circular lobby. Centered in the guest lobby, there is a circular staircase, draped around a beautiful glass elevator. For a yacht this size, this is a truly rare feature. With the engineroom aft, crew have easy access to the guest cabins.

The engineroom itself houses twin Caterpillars, each good for 2200 hp. Aft of the engineroom, there is a spacious tender garage, which keeps two tenders, and an array of watersports equipment, including two jet-ski's, a sailing boat, 2 canoes and a surfboard. Enough to keep the most active of guests occupied.

One deck up, on the main deck, two more cabins can be found. A large VIP cabin and the stunning master cabin. The later features a beautiful, almost minimalist, bathroom, with a free standing bath and a large shower. One enters the owner's cabin, through a small, yet elegant study. The cabin itself is spacious, highly luxurious, yet not overpowering - a style that is found all over the yacht, keeping a warm and welcoming ambience.

Moving aft on the main deck, past the central lobby, you enter the main salon. The room is divided into two distinct seating areas, where one can entertain on a grand style, yet still feel comfortable when entertaining only a handful of guests. Contemporary Italian design furniture graces the room, pieces of modern art grace the walls.

While the main galley is located on the maindeck, the dining room is in fact one deck up, on the bridgedeck. Whilst at first this may seem unpractical, the galley is well connected to the upper deck pantry. The separation of the dining room and the galley leaves the dining area well clear of the noise, and smells, coming from the galley. As the photo's show, the dining table itself is a true piece of art.

The dining room is flanked by the upper deck lounge, from here glaced sliding doors open automatically to reveal the upper aft deck. The upper aft deck is perfect for alfresco dining , two tables can each seat 6 to 8 guests, yet can be connected to form one large rectangular table. Set against the aft bulwark is a set of sofas. On the forward section of the upperdeck, just in front of the state-of-the-art bridge, is another guest seating area. With the bulwarks lowered around the foredeck, the view forward when seated on the forward facing seats is fantastic, especially when underway.

Up one more deck, is the sports deck. The superstructure that holds the fully equipped gym, and salon number three, divides the exterior deck into two separate areas, both set for sunlounging. The forward area features a Jacuzzi that is surrounded by sunpads, whilst the aft deck features another dining area, and sunloungers.

Great effort and craftsmanship has been put into the creation of South, ensuring a unique charter experience for everyone fortunate enough to charter this magnificent yacht.
