At this year's Monaco Boat Show, acclaimed Dutch shipyard Hakvoort presented the fully custom, 39.7 metre superyacht Apostrophe. With her elegant exterior features and lush, Art Déco-inspired interiors, all designed by Reymond Langton Design, and with naval architecture by Diana Yacht Design, Apostrophe is all about elegance and subtle, classic glamour. Simply put, she is a highly refined superyacht that stylishly combines luxury and class.
Boasting a fine contemporary exterior look, Apostrophe shows off some stunning, dynamic lines and a slender, curvy silhouette. The modern look is accentuated by the large inwards curving windows found on the main deck owner's quarters and at the sky lounge. The former is a particularly refreshing addition, which not only adds to Apostrophe's sophisticated personality but also greatly enhances outward visibility from within the master quarters. With her rich, refined and elongated lines and a distinct colour scheme featuring black windows, a grey hull and white superstructure, Apostrophe truly presents herself as a splendid, modern and gracious vessel.
Being just shy of 40 metres LOA, Apostrophe boasts a remarkably spacious atmosphere everywhere onboard, full of lush, highly detailed and stylish design features. Upon entering her main saloon, it becomes apparent that she is all about a generously warm, welcoming softness that easily combines classic nobility with a delightful sense of coziness. Here, like everywhere else onboard, stunning interior design is combined with an eye catching level of detail and a perfectly consistent sense of style.
Brushed nickel and white gold leaf are merged with warm brown walnut, ebonised makassar and mother of pearl, creating a graceful sense of luxury. The refined main saloon consists of an inviting lounge aft and lush formal dining fore, all with large windows for exquisite surrounding vistas. There is a pleasant fluidity, with the curvy sofa and armchairs in the lounge, in a plush and light upholstery and situated around an elegantly solid wooden table with mother of pearl inlays, all framed by gently ornamented surroundings and a soft, elegant lighting scheme.
The ambiance is rich yet subtle, glamorous yet intimate, and eloquently 20s and 30s-style classic. The formal dining area, too, is generous, curvy and inviting, with an overall sense of refined golden splendor.
With interior decors undeniably inspired by Art Déco, including the collection of stunning artworks, Apostrophe's style is certainly more subtle and toned-down. The atmosphere is rich and highly detailed but, thankfully, it doesn't become overly abundant or distracting. There remains ample luxury to enjoy and relish, such as the subtle marquetry and a stunning custom glass encased pillar by Crystal Caviar, located in the grand open staircase. With regards to guest accommodations, Apostrophe offers lush suites for a company of up to ten guests, including the owners, in one sumptuous master suite, two doubles and two twins.
The full beam master, located on the main deck and consisting of a semicircular stateroom, private study, generous his and hers en suites, and big walk-in wardrobe and dressing room, showcases a well balanced blend of lighting, colours and materials, resulting in maximum volume and a generous sense of openness. Here, the aforementioned rounded windows add curves and a distinct panoramic quality to the views outside. Whether or not the windows are covered, there is a soothing sense of intimacy that will make guests feel right at home. Alabaster glass wall lights, an extravagant headboard and onyx paneling are just some of the many design details that give this room a luxurious vibe.
The serene sense of style offers the master stateroom an intimate and glamorous atmosphere, which is extended into the en suites. Here, the two areas are joined in the centre by a circular bath tub and a large shower area. With a lush onyx marble finish, these en suites, like the master stateroom, boast a generous and appealing style that subtly reflects the glamour of a bygone era.
Belowdecks, stylish suites offer the remaining guests luxury accommodations, each in a distinct identity. With varying colour palettes, ranging from warm dark brown, cream, silver and golden honey tints, and rich detailing, these quarters assure every guests their own particular private ambiance, with spacious staterooms, stylish en suites and ample storage space.
The bridge deck presents guests with a distinct and informal area in the form of an elegant sky lounge, which has an open and round layout, curvy furnishing and some stunning vista views. Shapely armchairs, sofa and poufs are casually arranged throughout, adding to a pleasant ambiance of warm informality. With a colour palette based on cream and brown, the overall style is rich and hearty and, like the main saloon, the sky lounge boasts a curvy and organic feel. With plenty of round lines and smooth shapes, the room is able to maintain a solid and robust sense of elegance.
Apostrophe has a great set of spacious exterior decks, ranging from the wide swimming platform, great for a refreshing dive or ample hours of serene lounging, panoramic main and bridge aft decks, an intimate Portuguese deck and, last but certainly not least, a big and vibrant sun deck. The main aft deck offers the vessel's first of two al fresco dining areas which, combined with a bar, forms a great environment for cozy dinners and get togethers.
The aft bridge deck is wonderfully spacious and boasts that stylish, luxurious ambiance of lush al fresco living, with an aft lounge, including inviting and curvy sofas, a bar and a centrally located, circular dining table. This deck, which has a slightly more modern-classic style, boasts a great panoramic ambiance and is perfectly suitable for a wide range of social occasions, especially when combined with the lush sky lounge.
Fore, the Portuguese deck, connecting a cozy cockpit with big sun pads, offers stunning vistas and ample privacy. To top it all off, Apostrophe's sun deck offers a generous central lounge, which is perfectly suitable as a third al fresco lunch and dining area, a big area fore combining a bar, Jacuzzi and seating, and a large aft deck space for sunbathing and relaxing. All this, framed with generous panoramic views, turns this great sun deck, which is both open and perfectly private, into an undoubtable guest favourite.
Apostrophe is all about classic glamour, warm ambiance and plenty of elegance. With a great collection of guest accommodations, her wonderful style and overall friendly, warm ambiance, she is a becoming superyacht offering all the luxuries one could hope for, leaving nothing to be desired.
