With an imminent US debut at the Miami Boat Show 2013 next month, exciting superyacht Petrus II is confidently set on a course to take the spotlights. Built by Benetti, being the very first launch in their brand new range of Classic Supreme superyachts, this is a vessel that combines strong looks with high levels of quality, craftsmanship and technological excellence. On top of that, she offers a range of innovative design solutions, such as the port side balcony located in the master stateroom, two Jacuzzi's, found on the upper fore and sun decks, and full height windows located on several locations.
Petrus II's extraordinary exterior was developed by naval architect Stefano Righini, showing off a bold, sportive look that is eloquent and confident. On the one hand, it is a logical next step in the evolution of that signature look that is so distinctly present in all vessels from the Benetti Class range, yet on the other hand it is a refreshing step forward, with plenty of personality and a few special surprises. There are those recognizable wavy lines that visually blend all decks into a balanced whole, or the contrast and rhythm of the dark windows and the white hull and superstructure. These are just some of the design features that turn Petrus II into a true member of the Benetti Class range. This places her in an expanding tradition of superyachts that not only offer reliability, high quality and refined luxury, but it also proves that a truly successful design concept is timeless. And with the BEST platform, Benetti's Exclusive Sea Technology, integrating all electronic equipment and board systems, user friendliness is guaranteed, truly a new dimension.
Petrus II measures 40.24 metres LOA, to be exact. She boasts a dynamic look that embodies four decks with an undeniably spacious ambiance, both interior and exterior.
The main saloon gives a apt introduction to her character, with a large, airy and light setup that shows natural light flowing in through the large surrounding windows, framing the fresh, light interior design. The natural colour scheme of the sofas, walls and cabinetry are pleasantly contrasted with the deep brown floors and tables. The palette is well balanced, with crème, beige, off-white and brown tints setting a warm and welcoming tone. The overall scheme is contemporary, with minimalistic shapes and an absence of abundance, without becoming sterile or devoid of character.
The main saloon offers an aft pantry, a spacious central lounge and main dining fore. The lounge offers big, modern furnishing, with two large sofas and two large armchairs as main ingredients. The recessed, diamond shaped ceiling panels clad in ivory coloured leather and framed by LED-strips for an unobtrusive, modern lighting scheme, add modern elegance to the overall design scheme. All furnishing was done in oak and wengé, with upholstery in light grey and creme-coloured fabrics and leather.
Three lean coffee tables, in various shapes and sizes, add to the informal space that combines a light and intimate ambiance with amazing surrounding views. Fore, the elegant wengé dining table, with satin-finish steel inlays in the base and top, is surrounded by beige leather dining chairs, forming a main dining with a pleasing and light ambiance. The surrounding floor to ceiling windows assure ample natural light.
The main aft deck extends the saloon's atmosphere into an open and airy exterior lounge that offers a long, inviting sofa and several modern armchairs. From here, one can move towards the bow and find one of Petrus II's most surprising features. Here, a large Jacuzzi sunken into the deck, with adjustable sun umbrellas and framed with dazzling vista views, is to be enjoyed my every guest. The large adjacent sun pads and big U-shaped cockpit turn this whole area into one of the vessel's main exterior entertainment areas, perfectly private yet remarkably open. Downstairs from the main aft deck, a large swimming platform plus big garage housing two water scooters are at guests' disposal.
Petrus II is all about space and comfort, with voluminous spaces and a sense of refined luxury. Designed by François Zuretti, in close cooperation with the in-house Benetti design team, all interiors boast a pleasantly natural look. Moving into the fore main deck, the master suite offers sumptuous accommodation totalling 56 square metres of space.
A big private office and studio, full beam stateroom including an extending balcony port side, walk-in wardrobe with two entrances, and a delightful his and hers en suite bathroom with two separate shower areas and two toilet areas, his and hers wash basins and a large central tub, form a wonderfully luxurious accommodation. Here, too, a selection of natural materials is applied to form a delicate ambiance, with subtle three dimensional shapes and textures adding finesse. The diamond shaped, ivory coloured leather panels, subtly textured woods and recessed lighting all seamlessly blend together to form a welcoming stateroom, rich and delicate. The king-sized central bed faces a mirror wall, with centrally placed flat screen television, accentuating the voluminous ambiance, and a large panoramic window starboard side assures ample natural light.
The sliding port side balcony is arguably the master suite's most exquisite feature. The outer wall folds out to form a covered veranda with stunning vista views and supreme privacy, all the more remarkable for a vessel within this size category. Moving into the en suite, we find a light and private dwelling for one's daily rituals, with two spacious shower areas and a large tub as the main ingredients. Champagne marble, limestone, sparkling mosaics and leather finishing add a refined and balanced touch. Here, too, lighting is courtesy of subtly placed LED-strips controlled by silver-coloured glass touch switches.
Including the sumptuous master suite, Petrus II offers a total of 5 guest suites, the remainder of which are located on the lower deck. With two VIP suites and two doubles, the guest accommodation onboard is luxurious, spacious and stylish as one might expect from a superyacht of this stature. All suites are fitted with a luxury en suite, with large separate shower areas and the VIP en suites offer extra volume, for added guest comfort. All suites are designed in Petrus II's blend of natural colours and luxury materials such as ivory leather, oak and champagne marble.
Additional to luxurious and stylish guest accommodation, Petrus II offers various areas for entertaining and relaxing. The upper deck was designed as one large, extended area with perfect guest comfort in mind. The sky lounge, with two full-height windows, is a spacious, soothing area where relaxation simply comes natural.
A games table, L-shaped lounge area an a bar assure guests ample possibilities for entertaining. The large windows offer stunning panoramic views that perfectly frame this soothing ambiance, while the BEST-system allows this multi-functional area to be effortlessly transformed into a fully equipped media room, perfect for entertaining.
Outside, an extensive aft deck offers a large al fresco dining table, seating a company of up to 12 guests, a big U-shaped lounging area and a selection of sun loungers aft. With all freestanding furniture, this aft deck assures flexibility and comfort for every occasion. In short, the entire upper deck is an area perfect for day to night entertainment and relaxation, an aptly suitable spot for guests to get together and enjoy the many great things that Petrus II has to offer.
Upstairs, the extensive sun deck offers an additional range of amenities, starting with a second Jacuzzi plus adjacent sun pads aft. The central lounge and al fresco dining area, plus a bar and panoramic cockpit fore offer a wonderful setting for any occasion, ranging from intimate lunches and dinners to large parties. And, of course, all framed with spectacular panoramic views. The four main areas of the sun deck are conveniently separated, allowing all guests to have the comfort and privacy they desire. Additionally, two large parasols, plus a fibreglass hardtop, supply the necessary shade. The latter conveniently offers an electronically adjustable awning.
Petrus II is like a sumptuous, seagoing penthouse with an extensive sun deck, a truly remarkable vessel that elegantly combines great style, state of the art technology, high level craftsmanship, a wide selection of amenities and some very special surprises, all blended together to form the perfect guest experience every single time.
