Superyacht of the week: The Couach 2600 FLY

Last June, Couach Yachts launched the latest edition to their fleet of “yacht couture” superyachts, in the form of the 26 metre LOA Couach 2600 Fly. With this model, which boasts a fun, sportive and contemporary look, the acclaimed French shipyard, upholding a fine reputation and an impressive history of 115 years of shipbuilding, enters the sector of 80 foot vessels for the first time. Forming the missing link between the existing 22 metre and 28 metre vessels from the Couach range, and further broadening the scope of the brand's impressive fleet, the Couach 2600 Fly is instantly appealing, sportive and light.

Breaking new ground with regards to LOA, the Couach 2600 Fly further develops the strengths of the yard's catalogue: compact and functional yachts that emphasise comfortable onboard living, whether at anchor or while cruising. Adding to this dependable formula, the Couach 2600 Fly boasts speed, stability and agility as some of her main features. With naval architecture by Exequiel Cano Lanza, she is a feisty vessel that combines gracious style with strong performance and superb comfort, and well worth taking a closer look at.

Couach's in-house designer Franck Reynaud successfully developed a concept of consistency with current trends and a balanced blend of the yard's distinct features. With high levels of customisability, the Couach 2600 Fly was, for instance with regards to her layout, inspired by a much larger superyacht. With the 2012, 50 metre La Pellegrina functioning as one her inspirations, the Couach 2600 Fly turned out to be a vessel that makes perfect use of every square metre and adds some assets that would typically be found only on much larger vessels. The result is a vessel that feels pleasantly familiar yet surprisingly different.

Offering some great exterior decks and airy, light interior spaces, she emphasises exterior living as well as interior comfort. Upon boarding, one is welcomed on a big aft deck that has the first of two al fresco dining areas to be found onboard. With big U-shaped sofa and a large table, this area has a panoramic ambiance with plenty of intimacy.

The natural, contemporary and light design offers subtle materials, a fresh colour palette and an overall soothing ambiance of calm and finesse. Large, inviting, leather-upholstered furniture offer comfort and coziness. Modern, elegant cabinetry, a soft lighting scheme and an overall airiness turn this saloon into a friendly space. Fore of the lounge, the formal dining area offers chic dining adjacent to large sliding glass doors on either side, impressive for a vessel of this size, that bring the outside in and open up this area even more.
