Arcadia Yachts, situated on the shores of the Mediterranean sea, is a relative new company, building yachts between 75’ and 175’. Their style is innovative, yet simple and clean. The yard’s first launch, is the highly innovative and beautifully styled Arcadia 85. She was presented to the public early this years, at the Boot Dusseldorf yacht show, where we visited the yacht, and spoke with her builders. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/131028/image/large-1d44c759f816d9df9a770f21ed7f44ae.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/131028"><img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/131029/image/large-908e85ec725a143c99e2f265b3d9da17.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/131029"> <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/131030/image/large-97a101793cf41767d354a40acb87d0ee.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/131030">The design brief for the Arcadia 85 was to have a beautiful yacht, with a simple and understated styling. The design was determined by punctual functional requirements but, at the same time, impressing for innovative contents. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/131031/image/large-b1294fe8760e2480d8e64d7d6a8167a9.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/131031">The result is quite stunning, and unique. The Arcadia 85’s deckhouse is constructed almost entirely out of double layered reflecting glass, creating a bright and open interior. When needed, sliding overhead pannels provide shade, and privacy. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/131032/image/large-12e610ed401490ed223b7501bbece6b7.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/131032">Arcadia yachts are constructed using an assembling system, as seen in the automotive industry. This results in lower building time and costs, and also in a lower purchasing price for the client. In a recent conversation with SYT, the yard announced that their yachts will be as environmentally friendly as possible. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/131033/image/large-e26cc317b55f3d45312b2784abb96836.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/131033">The shape of the hulls require low powered engines, whilst solar panels are used to recharge batteries, used for the hotel load of the yacht. The overall concept and feel on board the Arcadia 85, is that the indoors blends in perfect harmony with the outdoor areas. Her aft deck is unusually large for a ship of her size, and offers a well protected cockpit, perfect for dining, as well as a large sunbathing area towards the stern of the yacht. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/131034/image/large-4ffa7732331c292bb8a2eb2ad83c7b3e.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/131034">The yacht lacks a sundeck, but manages to include all of the amenities normally found on the sundeck on the aft portion of the main deck. The idea behind this is that normally guests scatter over different decks, and can sometimes spend hours without interacting with each other. The Arcadia 85 is designed as a family yacht. By combining different exterior functions onto one single deck, guests can spend more time in each others presence. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/131035/image/large-8432728ad71f8ebe74fb7160bcdc2a2a.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/131035">The 85’s layout is unusual. As mentioned before, her aft deck is unusually large, and serves a the main entertaining area. Her main salon is more intimate, but could be considered slightly too small, when the yacht is fully loaded with 8 guests. That said, the aft deck is very so well protected against the elements, that guests will probably spend most of their time there, instead of inside. The interior of the 85 features pieces of modern furniture by well known Italian design houses, such as B&amp;B Italia, and Schiffini. Almost all the interior furnishings are loose pieces, creating a flexible layout. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/131036/image/large-eca777b5c98963b30bf593f26dfbad15.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/131036">Forward of the main salon, past the galley, there is a dining room, which is open to the wheelhouse. The dining room can be opened up, weather permitting, by opening large sliding doors to the side deck. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/131037/image/large-4f20076136c47e034e80565967837195.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/131037">The lower deck features four guest cabins, including a spectacular owner’s cabin aft. The room is exceptionally large, and features a beautiful modern bathroom. A large VIP cabin forward is fitted with a double bed, and there are two more twin cabins. The bow of the yacht offers space for 4 crew, which can be accessed through a hatch underneath the forward sunpads. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/131038/image/large-aff8b4c7cb5183346ff0759fa85ac4be.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/131038">The 23.97 metre yacht has a displacement of 55 tons, and is powered by twin MAN diesels. Her engines power her to speeds up to 18 knots, and she cruises comfortably at 16 knots. Her range is 500nm, very respectable for a yacht her size. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/131039/image/large-a9cb19f68c0d93797a79daf35c60d36b.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/131039">Arcadia have developed three models, starting with the 85. The next one up is a beautiful trideck design the 115. The 115 has some unusual features, such as a foredeck dedicated to guests, which houses a Jacuzzi surounded by sun pads. I think we really hit a nice size of boat and a great style.
