Superyacht of the Week: the new Nerissa

Nerissa is the latest addition to the Bilgin Yachts fleet and the first of the Bilgin 156 models. Starting out as a custom project, with the help of Bilgin Yachts' owner Mr Şengün, the yard quickly realised the market value a yacht of this size and its practical layout could hold, and so construction for a second unit shortly followed. Here we take a look at this special 47.5-metre motor yacht which is, as we experienced at the 2017 Monaco Yacht Show, ideal for entertaining groups of friends in style.With Nerissa, Bilgin managed to capture a recognisable style similar to that of Dusur and Giaola-Lu. In fact, she is based on the same platform as the slightly shorter and plumb-bowed Bilgin 155, Giaola-Lu. Unique Yacht Design was once again in charge of the design and found a natural balance between contemporary and timeless, edgy and tasteful. Even so, hidden behind this sub 500 GT yacht’s soothing exteriors are a bunch of impressive features that tick just about every box on the optional extras list.

“During the design of Nerissa, we have analysed each detail several times in order to provide our client with a notably spacious and comfortable yacht,” comments the shipyard. The yacht had to be, above all, safe and comfortable. Bilgin’s in-house naval architecture team made sure of this and a three-metre bulbous bow increases her stability and adds to her sea keeping capabilities. “On her maiden voyage from Istanbul to Monaco, Nerissa achieved a top speed of 16.5 knots several times along the passage in various sea states,” said the shipyard.
 

The sun deck is where one of Nerissa’s two Jacuzzis can be found. A special feature here is the glass bottom that cleverly allows even more light directly into the main lobby areas below via a spiral staircase that runs nearly the entire inner height of the yacht. Additionally, the usual lounge spaces, bar and very generous sunbathing areas are scattered elsewhere around this deck.

One deck down, on the upper deck, a stylish lifestyle setup consisting of a family-sized dining table, sidebar with a view, and built-in reclining sun loungers makes this a very versatile outdoor area. The low stations and minimal obstructions make it possible to enjoy the surrounding views from any angle while relaxing here.

The sky lounge that is connected to the outdoor deck is purposefully designed for entertainment. Two large TV screens, a crescent lounge and games table makes this a perfect post-dinner hideout for adults and children.

Very familiar with the dynamics of Bilgin Yachts, having worked with the Turkish shipyard on its last four delivered projects, H2 Yacht Design once again took the lead in terms of interior design and styling. The grand main saloon is finished with touches of copper, stone and silver with shades of grey adding a contemporary style.

The impressive foyer with its glass inserts and stripped wooden panelling creates a dramatic effect as you walk past this space forward to the master suite. The soft natural light that reaches this level has been filtered through two decks including the Jacuzzi on the sundeck.

The folding balcony on the starboard side is the first thing that catches your attention as you enter the master suite. A large skylight that is set into the Portuguese deck above provides a unique view to the outside world and with it, even more natural light.

The four guest cabins on the lower deck reflect the same modern style as the two saloons upstairs. The layout consists of three double suites and one twin cabin.

Back outside, an outdoor highlight has got to be the beach club. Bright and spacious, even under the starry night sky, this secluded spot keeps you sheltered from the elements during those hot summer days at anchor while still making you feel at one with the ocean that is only a few steps away.Nerissa is offered for sale through IYC's Central Agents Richard Gray and Leo Jordil at an asking price of €21,500,000.
