The Superyacht Singapore Association (SSA) has today launched its initial conference program for the 1st Asia Superyacht Conference to be held in Singapore on October 13-14 2009. The conference, sponsored by MTU, features over 20 international speakers from 12 countries including Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Philippines, Australia, The USA and The UK. “The conference aims to set an agenda for the superyacht industry in Asia both in terms of cruising destinations and yacht building” commented SSA Executive Director, Jean-Jacques Lavigne. “The amount of superyacht traffic is fast increasing throughout Asia and the number of locally owned yachts is also growing quickly. Asia does not yet have the infrastructure strength of The Caribbean or Mediterranean and part of the objective is to identify what Asia needs to do to drive the industry forward. We have some of the most incredible cruising grounds in the world and more works needs to be done to unlock the potential.” More speakers are being added to the program everyday and SSA member and Conference Director Simon Turner commented “we already have an exceptional line up of speakers from Asia and beyond for the 1st event of this type ever to be held in the region. Yachts arriving at Jeddah Yacht Club for the Saudi Arabian F1 Grand Prix

The <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Event/171" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Mediterranean Yacht Show - 2023">Mediterranean Yacht Show</a> will be returning to Nafplion, Greece for its eighth edition from 29 April until 3 May 2023. The details of the first two of the Carinthias fleet are obscure, though widely assumed to have consisted of smaller vessels for use on the &nbsp;Ruhr and Rhine rivers.&nbsp;Carinthia III, on the other hand, was Horten’s first real superyacht. One thing all the Carinthia’s have in common is that they are all notably fast yachts and though Carinthia III&nbsp;was one of the slowest in the fleet, she still boasted a top speed of 23 knots. Built by the same French shipyard as Carinthia III, she was completed in 1964, with Horten again assigning her design to <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/549" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="André Mauric (Company)">Mauric</a>, this time in collaboration with the now-iconic <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/17" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Bannenberg & Rowell Design (Company)">Jon Bannenberg</a>. Again, &nbsp;number four in the series of yachts was sold and renamed, this time to Sylvana C. Seeing another extension in length from her predecessor, this vessel was built at the German shipyard <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/23" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lürssen Yachts (Company)">Lürssen</a>, a brand a little closer to home for Horten. Measuring 67.85 metres, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/17" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Bannenberg & Rowell Design (Company)">Bannenberg</a> was responsible for her design this time in collaboration with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/23" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lürssen Yachts (Company)">Lürssen</a>, marking a departure from the French shipyard Horten had previously favoured for his Carinthias.
