Superyachts in Palma de Mallorca, Spain

The SYT media team is on scene in Palma this week to cover the 2016 Palma Superyacht Show, where Tom van Oossanen managed to capture two Dutch-built superyachts moored in the Balearic capital side by side yesterday for the first time. In the foreground is the Palma-regular Stargate. Completed by Oceanco in 2001, the 80 metre yacht is a near identical version of her sister ship Constellation that was launched two years earlier. To the right of her is Feadship’s 101.5 metre Symphony. The shipyard’s largest yacht to date was designed to carry 36 passengers, complying with the new Passenger Yacht Code (PYC). Designed by Tim Heywood, Symphony’s exterior decks offer guests a 6 metre glass-bottomed swimming pool on main deck, an outdoor cinema on bridge deck, and an oversized Jacuzzi on sundeck. Her interior design was created by Zuretti Interior Design.

Suave and sophisticated but also welcoming and family-friendly, the colour palette in the main saloon and dining room, which take advantage of the full 9.6-metre beam, is based on aquamarine and ivory soft furnishings combined with warm wood veneers, natural leathers and full-height windows for exceptional light and panoramic views. The changes mean that Project Venus shares only the same technical and engineering specifications with her predecessors in the series. A noteworthy addition is the “shark tooth” motif, a design feature halfway along the side of the bridge deck that lends the yacht a powerful personality.
