Launched last year under the name Joy Rider by Damen in the Netherlands, the 45.6-metre yacht support vessel has since been handed over to her experienced owner after the sale of the speculative project last year. The support yacht Pink Shadow will operate as the shadow vessel to the owner’s 53.7-metre sailing yacht Pink Gin VI, supporting the mothership on her world travels.
Currently in the Caribbean, the pair will soon arrive in St Barths where Pink Gin VI is scheduled to take part in this year’s Bucket regatta from 19-23 March. “Pink Shadow is the first Yacht Support fully dedicated to the superyacht sailing lifestyle,” explains her builder. The vessel was modified by the Damen team in Florida where several cosmetic and functional changes were implemented including a vibrant underwater-themed mural that echoes the whimsical spirit of her mothership.
On a functional level, Pink Shadow has space to carry up to two 10-metre tenders on her expansive 120 square metre aft deck along with a Land Rover Defender. The flexible deck space can also be used as an entertaining platform to host up to 200 people on special occasions. In addition, special storage spaces on deck are used for stowing racing sails and maintenance equipment needed by the mothership. Helicopter transfers for Pink Gin VI guests are now also possible via Pink Shadow’s helicopter-ready aft deck. 
Apart from carrying additional crew, the support yacht is also equipped to host guests in separate ensuite cabins. Up to six guests can be accommodated on the main deck in the master suite or two guest staterooms, all of which have en-suite bathrooms and floating floors for low noise and vibrations. The main deck also boasts a 25-square-metre lounge with a seating and dining area, where guests can make use of the 10-square-metre galley.
