The 32nd Cannes International Boat and Yacht Show

Events

The rich offering at the 32nd Cannes International Boat and Yacht Show, has once again won over visitors (57 000) and exhibitors alike through a sense of beauty and elegance that have made the “French touch” world famous.

In a difficult economic context, the doors to the 2009 Cannes International Boat and Yacht Show are closing on a positive note. Industry professionals said they were satisfied and reassured by the quality of the contacts they established and the sales made during the show, suggesting that the low point has been passed.

Due to its position as the first show of the season, the Cannes International Boat and Yacht Show is seen as a barometer of future trends. Thus after a particularly delicate year, boat industry professionals have been looking forward to it eagerly.

If visitors were slightly fewer in number this year (-14%), their high number (57 000) is indicative of the interest that pleasure boating and luxury yachting continue to create among a French and international clientele (Italy, UK, Switzerland, Monaco, Russia, Germany, China, Eastern Europe...).

The quality of the contacts made may reflect the beginning of a recovery. Many exhibitors have reported "useful contacts" and "promising requests for information" and for some, new orders "that make it possible to consider the upcoming season with a certain amount of optimism."

The new economic order of the moment encourages companies to push even further, in the search for excellence and performance. The entire sector knows that at a time when the cards are being dealt again, it is necessary to be even more competitive in order to stand out and be noticed by an ever more demanding clientele.

The major shipyards have thus demonstrated their strength and vitality through increased investment in innovation, as shown by the presentation of 180 new models at Cannes this year.

The show gathered together vessels of every style and situation, and the boldest designs alongside the more traditional. Whether presenting yachts, superyachts, sailing boats, catamarans or motor boats the latest technological innovations in engines, equipment, interior design, or protection of the environment reflect the fighting spirit of all the players in the boat industry.
