Both the hauling out area and the working sheds of Monty North, located in the centre of Barcelona’s Harbour, are working full swing as the summer season approaches. More than 20 yachts were seen recently in the hauling out area of Monty North, in the centre of Barcelona’s harbour. Also the new building sheds and the recently upgraded main shed of the yard are humming with activity, with two North Wind sailing yachts almost ready to hit the water and a 30 meter motor yacht in advanced stage of construction.
As usual in spring time, the hauling out area of Monty North has been visited by a great number of yachts. Over 10 vessels of around 30 meters in length have chosen this year the Monty North premises for their fitting out. Among others have visited the yard the 30 meter S/Y Concordia, an 18 meter Jongert and a 23 meter Mochy Craft. The work lists for those units go from a simple haul out or paint job to a substantial refit project.
Inside the sheds is where the yard is working hard to finish the new units which it plans to launch next summer.
Two North Wind sailing yachts of 58 and 68 feet are almost ready and will be sailing this summer. Both are excellent examples of the combination between standard series and attention to customer demands that North Wind and Monty North provide. Colours, joinery work and other details show a distinct specification for each unit.
A 28,50 steel and aluminium motor yacht, with design by Benetti Sail Division and Monty North, is the highlight of the work season. The yacht is being built for a local owner and, despite the late arrival of the hull and superstructure, has seen substantial advances in its building schedule thanks to great work planning by Monty North which allowed both interior and equipment work to be done in advance. The yard plans to hand the yacht to the owner during the summer, in what is regarded as a “tour de force” and record construction time. Interior accommodation has been created by Barcelona’s well known architect Josep Joanpere, who has already worked in other Monty North’s projects.
