The 51.50-metre Hollander offers the finest performance yet seen on a full displacement yacht below 500 GT. Combining a sleek, low-resistance aluminium hull with a hybrid propulsion package, it offers major fuel savings and interior flexibility. The Hollander is the first yacht below 500 GT to deploy a smart power pack system that takes full account of the total onboard power consumption. Four generators supply all the power needed for propulsion and the hotel load. Consumption is calculated in different user modes, with an intelligent monitoring and control system deciding which generators need run at which rpm and when. Moreover, the use of a battery bank offers a silent operation option and zero-emission capability. The Hollander will use 35 percent less fuel that an equivalent displacement vessel. And because the gensets can be located away from the propulsion train, the options for interior layout are radically enhanced. Additional accommodation can be located in the prime real estate areas while the ‘engine room’ is located in the best place for interior weight distribution and maintenance. Tommaso Spadolini (Company)">Tommaso Spadolini</a> has unveiled the first renderings for a new 48.5-metre superyacht concept. The motor yacht was designed with a specific owner in mind who was looking for a more spacious design from his current 35-metre yacht.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/260720/image/large-2e9f6b915b88c880e8684f344ab2c08d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/260720">The strictly displacement hull measures 48.5-metres in overall length, which becomes 46-metres at the waterline. A new industry initiative has been launched by the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC) that focuses on the impact the yachting industry has on the world’s forests. The initiative encourages clear sustainability goals and open dialogues for more responsible solutions. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/263032/image/large-9840fc3a207fde264c781f549845604d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/263032">“Yachts are an extreme luxury product, but the industry is also an important sector in the innovation of new and greener solutions for the shipbuilding industry in general,” Kristian Jørgensen, technical advisor at FSC Denmark, stated. “We often see innovation in the areas of engine technology, energy efficiency, synthetic fibres, and the direct impact of different materials on the marine environment. But the time has come to pay more attention to the timber that is used.”Timber is a staple resource for the industry, whether that’s teak decking, masts and booms, or interior outfitting – you’ll be hard-pressed to find a yacht that doesn’t make use of the material in some form. Onboard, the 1,166 GT superyacht can accommodate as many as 12 guests across six staterooms.
