Adam Voorhees has send us photos of his latest work, Project Aandeel, a 25 metre superyacht with a 230m2 upwind sail area. This is the first completed project that is designed entirely by Adam Voorhees Design. Aandeel, the sloop originally designed by S&S and built by Goetz, has been refitted at Westerly Marine in California with her new owner.
Adam commented: "A sense of directness in the built form plus honesty in materiality combine with the latest technology to satisfy the demands for high performance sailing and casual, elegant living. aandeel is the perfect result of a complete, two year rebuild involving entirely new interiors, exteriors, and systems. Based on the S&S platform of Sleighride, the design brief calls for automated sail handling systems so the owner can take her out by himself, but also refined and luxurious spaces for entertaining and relaxing with lots of friends and family onboard. Pre-preg carbon construction, water ballast, and a generous sailplan ensure fast and easy sailing".
"Reflected both inside and out, particular attention has been placed on the idea of comfortable living in multifunctional spaces that maximize versatility and heighten the relationship between the users and the nautical environment. Custom furniture pieces commissioned by the owner, one-of-a-kind fixtures, and interactive lighting details also contribute to the uniqueness of the yacht. The lack of visual noise and an ethos of complexity hidden by simplicity define aandeel's eminently livable, essential aesthetic".
