Sunseeker International have shared details of their latest Sunseeker 90 Ocean line of yachts. SuperYacht Times takes a closer look on board this 27.1-metre motor yacht, which features an increased volume of 20 percent from her predecessors, thanks to a substantial beam and vertical bow.
The first hull of the Sunseeker 90 Ocean, named Quid Nunc , was recently on display at the Palma Superyacht Show last week. Founder and Director of SYT, Merijn de Waard, interviewed Sales Director of Sunseeker, Sean Robertson, to discuss Sunseeker's latest designs. The Sunseeker 90 Ocean is built with a GRP hull and superstructure, and her naval architecture, interior and exterior styling is designed in-house by her builder, Sunseeker. The yacht’s exterior lines have been modified to increase volume and space on board, with her 7.16-metre beam. This exterior modification allows her beach club to become an expansive space measuring 6-metres by 4-metres, creating ample space for socialising and enjoying time close to the water. It also has a built-in barbecue in this area and a Bezenzoni ‘ladder gangway’ to access the ocean and enjoy the multiple water sports on offer, after which they can use the oversized rain shower. The Sunseeker 90 Ocean is designed with X-Tend™ sunbeds for lounging. These come with multiple configurations to allow for optimal relaxation, and are key to arranging space on board for entertaining. The sunbeds can be operated electrically to either raise upwards to face the cockpit seating area or lowered to face the aft beach club. CEO of Sunseeker, Andrea Frabetti, comments, “The X-Tend™ sunbed system is yet another example of the extraordinary talent we hold in-house and has become a defining feature across many of our new models.” To her bow, she features further sunbathing beds with adjustable backrests, lounge seating and side tables for drinks. Later in the day, guests have the option to turn this foredeck into an outdoor cinema with a laser projector and 140-inch screen. The tender garage door has been designed at an angle, maximising space and storage. The adjoining deck area is equipped with a large hydraulic platform to hold and launch her multiple toys including a Jet Ski. Sales Director, Sean Robertson, commented “This exciting new yacht will, without doubt, reinvent the market.”One of the Sunseeker 90 Ocean's most impressive features is her exceptionally spacious flybridge, comparably bigger to yachts of a similar size. Owners can select to integrate an infinity spa pool to compliment the U-shaped seating and sunpad, as standard. It also includes a sideboard with a second barbecue, and a bar with an ice maker and a fridge. Her handrails are capped in teak with glazing below to ensure uninterrupted panoramic views. The Sunseeker 90 Ocean will also have a carbon fibre hardtop roof with a retractable canopy to provide shade or sunshine for the ultimate entertainment space. Here, owners can choose to create an al fresco dining space or leave it open-planned. The Sunseeker 90 Ocean’s interior uses warm materials to create an elegant and enchanting aesthetic. The layering of textural elements and the mix of furnishings and fabrics are used to create a timeless yet modern interior. Her main saloon is of considerable size with a length of 8.8-metres giving ample space for entertaining or lounging, with a chaise longue to port. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the interior with natural light complimented by opening sliding doors. A dedicated dining area for up-to eight guests can be positioned to either port or starboard, whilst an apartment-style galley is placed forward, with a direct side deck for crew access. Here, guests can also access the thirty-four bottle wine cooler. The Sunseeker 90 Ocean comes equipped with a full-beam master stateroom offering panoramic views from her 2.5-metre feature window. Continuing the elegant lines featured throughout the yacht, the stateroom has curved bulkheads and textured panelling, alongside a king-sized bed, full-width decorative mirror, his-and-hers wardrobes, as well as a generously sized en suite bathroom with twin porcelain sinks, backlit mirrors and a free standing shower. .She can accommodate up to eight guests plus a crew of four. For the charter market, an optional fifth stateroom is possible in lieu of the standard master stateroom. Frabetti summarises, “We have a fantastic team of world-class designers here at Sunseeker’s Design and Technology Centre and they have delivered an incredible new design incorporating some truly remarkable engineering solutions in the best use of space on board yet.” Performance-wise, the Sunseeker 90 Ocean will be powered by 3,800 horsepower engines enabling her to reach top speeds of 26 knots. At 12 knots she will have a range of 1,800 nautical miles.
