The Otam 58 HT Crazy Too

Launched in July of this year, Italian shipyard, Otam, presented the new 18.70 metre 58 HT Crazy Too at Cannes last month, where SYT's Merijn stepped on board for a seatrial. The vessel is the 25th evolution of the successful Otam Millenium 58 Hardtop series.

She has a custom coloured black hull and hardtop, as well as equally customised interiors designed by Cristiano Gatto Design. Guests are accommodated in a comfortable 3 en-suite cabin layout, including a single cabin to starboard, a twin guest cabin to port and, located forward, is the full beam master suite.

Furniture throughout the interiors are created with a bright black mirror finish, while the bathroom showers are tiled with multicolored Bisazza with sinks of black glass. The Cristiano Gatto Design Team used chromatic combinations throughout the open air and below deck spaces. Delicate shades of beige have been used for textiles and leathers, and are combined with the black hull and deck. For the on-deck sitting areas, Sunbrella fabrics and Marina Mill chenille were chosen, while below decks natural linen and cotton materials are used. High technology synthetics such as carbon fiber has been utilised for the tables and furniture tops surfaces, as well as a decorative material on doors and cupboards.

The vessel boasts an impressive selection of technology, with a custom built AV system and an M7 satellite dome which allows guests to watch prime television from satellites worldwide. Antonio Caviglia, Otam Sales & Marketing Director comments, “Crazy Too is a chase-boat that can also be used for a weekend cruise dedicated to fun and speed, with virtually all of the amenities you could desire on board a superyacht. Otam has created a yacht that combines state of the art on-board electronics, design and outstanding performance on the water.”

Built to be the chase-boat for an existing superyacht owned by Egyptian businessman Naguib Sawiris, Crazy Too is powered by twin Caterpillar C32 Acert engines with 1724Hp each. She has a maximum speed of 55 knots and a cruising speed of 48 knots.

The owner’s representative, Alex Banning of SuperYachtsMonaco, comments, “We had a long task in finding the right balance of shipyard, quality, ability to customise and performance above 43 knots. We needed a chase boat brand with pedigree, history, financial backing and the ability to guarantee that the boat would achieve the 51 knots contract speed. Otam has excelled throughout the process.”
