Most people would agree that the mood was much more positive for the international yachting industry gathered in Cannes, Monaco and Fort Lauderdale in the last couple of months. But there are new markets out there, too, with an even more promising future.
All eyes are now on Asia, where businesses flourish and the world’s newest nouveaux riches seek to widen the scope of their indulgence in the luxury market. At the region’s heart is Singapore, already home to the highest concentration of millionaire households, as well as some of the most exclusive clubs, restaurants, shopping and hotels, in the world.
Its financial "free zone" has turned the City State into the "Switzerland of the East" - just as its fabulous casinos, Formula 1 Grand Prix and luxury marinas drew earlier comparisons with Monaco. All of this is an irresistible draw to the region's legions of millionaires and billionaires; Singapore is now peerless as the financial, business and luxury hub of Asia.
Andy Treadwell, Managing Director of the Singapore Yacht Show comments: "That the Singapore Yacht Show returns from 19-21 April 2013 to showcase the best of the international yachting industry's latest luxury power and sailing vessels, is testament both to Singapore’s ability to cater to the world’s most prestigious consumers, and to the growth of luxury yachting in this part of the world."
"We will be welcoming prospective buyers from all over the huge region stretching from China, Australia, through South East Asia and India to the Middle East. They will be coming to experience the luxury lifestyle and the business buzz, to network, dine and party with the world’s elite, and to indulge in the joy of yachting around Asia, and beyond."
"We will have a considerably extended show next year, with new fine art and supercar sections, as well as many more exhibitors, a much bigger display of yachts and boats, and some great entertainment. The fully integrated show precinct now incorporates 18 high-end luxury goods and F&B outlets, as well as the fabulous, newly-opened W Singapore - Sentosa Cove hotel right next door".
