The Leopard Yachts shipyard recently won two important prizes: the best lay out for the new Leopard 43m, and the UCINA award for the fiftieth years of participation at the Genoa Boat Show.
These two goals give proof of the value of Leopard yachts and the strength of the brand. At the same time, recognizing the long tradition of the Picchiotti family, as being among the oldest one in the industry, whom have owned the Leopard brand since the seventies.
In both the occasions Piero Picchiotti, the patron of the Picchiotti family, went on the stage to receive the award. The Picchiotti family started to build boats at Limite sull’Arno in the seventeenth century and nowadays still manage the shipyard with Sandro e Paolo Picchiotti, in the role of President and Vice President of the Company.
“Recently smear campaigns have targeted the Italian nautical industry to attempt threaten her credibility" – comments Sandro Picchiotti, President of the Company, recently named in the Ucina border of directors -. "This however didn’t prevent the Italian entrepreneurs from committing to maintain the Made in Italy leadership. The two awards testify the value of our company and our everyday commitment to pursue quality and innovation while building our yachts. They are a further reason to go ahead.”
The Leopard shipyard, heritage of the Cantiere Navale Arno and before of the historical Picchiotti shipyard, has taken part at the Genova Boat Show since the first edition in 1962.
The Leopard 43m, hull number 1, was launched from the Leopard Shipyard last Spring and won the World Yachts Trophie 2010 for the best lay out in the category Sport Yacht over 24m. The Leopard 43m was built by the shipyard in collaboration with the naval architect André Bacigalupo and the Cristiano Gatto Design Team. It enriches the Leopard range with a new performing model designed to allow its guest to enjoy the open areas in full comfort, tank to its wide fly bridge.
