Vagrant, the 39-metre classic Herreshoff schooner from 1913 that arrived at Royal Huisman’s Huisfit refit centre in July 2017, is now nearing completion after over a year’s work on the rebuild of this legendary sailing yacht in Vollenhove, the Netherlands. Sailing yacht Vagrant under refit at Royal HuismanPhoto: Roayl HuismanSailing yacht Vagrant under refit at Royal HuismanPhoto: Roayl Huisman

Set to be relaunched in the spring of 2019, Vagrant’s hull has now been prepared for the reinstallation of her engineering systems and classic interior, expertly restored by the Huisfit team. Current works include the reinstallation of Vagrant’s teak deck which will be followed by the placement of the restored deckhouse and deck skylights. Sailing yacht Vagrant under refit at Royal HuismanPhoto: Roayl HuismanSailing yacht Vagrant under refit at Royal HuismanPhoto: Roayl HuismanSailing yacht Vagrant under refit at Royal HuismanPhoto: Roayl Huisman

In addition to the upgrading of her existing interior, Vagrant will also receive brand new crew quarters which were custom built by the shipyard.Sailing yacht Vagrant under refit at Royal HuismanPhoto: Roayl HuismanSailing yacht Vagrant under refit at Royal HuismanPhoto: Roayl Huisman

With the reengineering of her systems and updating of materials on board, Vagrant will manage to retain her old-school charm when relaunched while likely being able to survive another 100 years out at sea.Sailing yacht Vagrant under refit at Royal HuismanPhoto: Roayl HuismanVagrant
