The Dutch shipyard Van der Valk has introduced a new motor yacht concept designed by the Amsterdam-based studio Cor D. Rover. The all-aluminium Pilot range will be available in lengths of 23 metres and above and combines the rugged exterior of an explorer vessel with the interior comfort of modern motor yachts. Photo: Van der ValkThe Pilot yacht range attempts to embody the essence of versatility in every sense with a raised pilothouse configuration that elevates the position of the wheelhouse to free the forward main deck area for various entertainment purposes. Additionally, a 4.9-metre swimming platform aft of the main deck - which can also be configured with an Opacmare Transformer - and a crane to lower the tender and larger toys into the water transforms the space into a spacious beach club area with a terrace and a selection of loose furniture when the tender and toys are in the water. The flybridge deck is directly accessible from the wheelhouse and comprises an outdoor helm station, a wet bar to port and a wide sunbathing area. Most outdoor spaces are covered by a hardtop while the sunny areas can be shaded with a convertible canvas awning. This configuration allows the owner to enjoy scenic views from the comfort of their bed and have a private staircase leading up to the pilothouse and down to the guest accommodation while the crew make use of a separate stairwell connected to the crew mess and galley. Crew accommodation consists of two double crew cabins.Photo: Van der ValkThe main deck lounge on board the 23-metre Pilot yacht will feature uninterrupted views of the outdoors thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows. Further in tune with the versatility of the Pilot series, a range of adaptations can be made to the initial 23-metre model with for instance the addition of gym in the aft area, a different tender or selection of watersport toys, or by extending the saloon aft to expand its dining area.
