Van der Valk’s new Continental Five range revealed

Dutch shipyard Van der Valk have been hard at work in the development of their latest addition to the Continental line of yachts. Designed by Guido de Groot, the Continental Five is a new 38 metre explorer yacht that blurs the lines between a modern and classic design.

Even though the range has been extensively developed, clients are offered room to interpret the platform to suit their requirements. A round-bilge hull for example is available for full-displacement or an all-aluminium fast-displacement construction package for those in search of a higher performance yacht. A propulsion package with twin CAT C18 ACERT engines have been calculated for.

The design features a tri-deck exterior layout that gradually slopes down to main deck where the main deck aft has been kept open for easy launching and retrieving of tenders and watersport toys. This space can also be adapted in the design to house a large swimming pool or helicopter landing pad.

Designer Guido de Groot had the following to say about the project: “The Continental Five is the largest design to be unveiled to date and we are especially proud of the flexible layout possibilities of this 38-metre yacht.”
