We recently had superyacht designer Pieter van Geest of Van Geest Design in our office, explaining to us more about his latest superyacht concept, the VGD 80m. Sleek lines give this 80 metre a clean impression, resulting in straight forward engineering, keeping it simple to build.
The 80 metre design study focuses on a pure, non cluttered image and lifestyle, persuing an ultimate interior / exterior interaction on board. The yacht features a 320 m2 owners deck on top, including a private saloon with panoramic windows facilitating a true outside-in lounging experience.
The bridge deck is located one deck lower, and features helicopter landing facilities forward. Behind the bridge area the main salon and guest entertaining areas. The main deck below houses another salon as well as all the guest cabins. Each guest stateroom benefits from large windows, offering a beautiful vista even from the bathrooms. On the aft deck Pieter created a large infinity swimming pool that extends over the transom.
The lower deck is dedicated to a large spa and wellness area at water level, that opens up to folding balconies. The main tenders and toys are all stored forward of this area.
Pieter informs us the design is not yet set in stone, and variations of this general plan are being studied to suit different requests and requirements.
