Van Oossanen Naval Architects celebrated its 20th anniversary on 26th January, with some 100 guests attending, in an "open house" type setting. In a speech by Peter van Oossanen, the founder of the company, he explained that in addition to the 20th birthday of the company there are a number of other reasons for the celibration, such as welcoming Perry van Oossanen and Niels Moerke as shareholders in the company.
Perry and Niels have become very important employees of the comapny, having built up an international reputation in their respective fields of work, and having become responsible for a considerable portion of the projects carried out. Both have assumed the position of director of the company as of 1st January 2012. Furthermore, the name change (from Van Oossanen & Associates to Van Oossanen Naval Architects), also on 1st January 2012, was the reason for a change in the company logo, website, and in other means in which the company presents itself. Last, but not least, the company was re-located to a bigger office in Wageningen recently.
Van Oossanen Naval Architects have been very successful during these last years in different fields of naval architecture. The newly-developed and patented hull form referred to as the Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) has been adopted for a large number of motor yacht projects on the basis of the significant saving in fuel this hull forms affords. Also, the patented Hull Vane, after some 6 years of research, is now breaking ground with the application thereof on the new 42 metre Heesen motor yacht of which the construction is scheduled to start this summer. Also, the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) service, run by the company, is now widely used by ship owners, shipyards and naval architects around the world.
