Viareggio SuperYachts Carbon Offsets the sea trials of Candyscape II

Sea trials are about to begin for Candyscape II, the latest 62m vessel from Viareggio SuperYachts (VSY). The superyacht has been designed to have the highest standards of environmental performance and energy efficiency, and to meet the exacting standards of the RINA Green Star class notation.

Now, VSY has acted to Carbon Offset the greenhouse gas emissions from the fuel that will be used during Candyscape II’s sea trials in the coming weeks – though this will be relatively modest for a yacht of this size due to the efficiency of her design.

These emissions will be balanced by equivalent greenhouse gas savings achieved by green energy projects, through Yacht Carbon Offset.

Federico Bennewitz, General Manager of VSY said “As a company, we have taken up the challenge of building superyachts to the highest environmental standards. Candyscape II and her sister ships show just what can be achieved with state-of-the-art technology and innovative design. And in our own operations, we are always looking for new ways to minimise our impact on the environment. So for VSY, working with Yacht Carbon Offset is completely in tune with our business priorities.”

Yacht Carbon Offset’s Managing Director Mark Robinson commented: “With Candyscape II, VSY once again shows how leadership in environmental performance is a major priority, for superyacht builders and Owners alike. Optimising fuel efficiency is one way to minimise a yacht’s carbon footprint – and Carbon Offsetting complements this perfectly. We are delighted to be working with VSY in this important aspect of their company policy, and pleased to have provided our specialist service to balance emissions from Candyscape II’s sea trials.”
